Cross country teams do well on the road, annual county meet this afternoon

Landmark Christian School’s girls placed first at the Pike County Invitational on Saturday. Its top five runners were:
• Hannah Gravitt, 1, 20:00
• Kaity Bulger, 3, 21:28
• Georgiana Moody, 8, 21:57
• Christian McGuire, 12, 22:43
• Kenzie Thrasher, 15, 22:47

Landmark Christian School’s boys placed sixth overall at the Pike County High School Invitational on Saturday. Their top five runners were:
• Daniel Hix, 3, 17:43
• Mehamed Gomez, 10, 18:04
• Alek Pike, 15, 18:26
• Patrick Dyer, 55, 20:14
• John Long, 61, 20:43

Whitewater’s boys placed ninth in the Boys Invitational Seeded division of the Great American XC Festival in Hoover, Ala. Their top five runners were:
• Nick Londillo, 16, 17:34
• John Grafmiller, 26, 17:42
• Sean Plunkett, 53, 18:24
• Cory Nolan, 64, 18:41
• William Morrissey, 74, 18:53

Whitewater’s girls placed 10th in the Girls Invitational Seeded division of the Great American XC Festival. Their top five runners were:
• Kasie Knapper, 12, 20:37
• Stacey Mangan, 15, 20:48
• Lauren Perkins, 61, 22:21
• Mary Francis Roberts, 64, 22:29
• Feagan Hunt, 77, 23:12

Starr’s Mill’s boys placed 13th overall at the Furman Invitational. Their top five runners were:
• Warren Enriquez, 42, 17:37
• Kevin Killory, 44, 17:38
• Eric Finke, 98, 18:24
• Steven Labrecque, 109, 18:37
• Clay Ligon, 117, 18:40

Starr’s Mill’s girls placed 19th at the Furman Invitational. Their top five runners were:
• Molly Musselwhite, 62, 21:42
• Sarah Balkcom, 64, 21:43
• Kelly McNair, 109, 22:53
• Julie Thompson, 114, 23:06
• Jamie Burr, 133, 23:32

The annual county meet will take place at Sandy Creek High School this afternoon. The meet is always competitive, and teams will be running for bragging rights as well as preparing for region and state championships.
