Football players of the week

Fayette County High School:
Running back/safety Matt Daniels: Daniels carried 22 times for 96 yards and one touchdown, and he caught two passes for 59 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Daniels had four tackles, three assists and one interception.
Linebacker Evan Reid had seven tackles and seven assists; linebacker Ed Bexley had six tackles, five assists and one fumble recovery; and defensive back Cecil Level had four tackles and five assists.

Defensive lineman Brian Ediomioya returned a fumble 32 yards for a touchdown.

Landmark Christian School:

Running back Walter Lenard ran for 150 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns. Linebacker Blake Wyatt had 18 total tackles and an interception, while fellow linebacker Luke Griffith added 13 total tackles. Defensive lineman Michael Leonard added seven total tackles and a blocked punt.

McIntosh High School:
The “Black Swarm” defense was led by linebackers Gavin Carson (12 total tackles, including one for loss, one sack, one pass defensed) and Graham (nine total tackles, including three for loss), defensive end Nick Popeil (seven total tackles, including three for loss, three passes defensed) and defensive tackle Matt Miller (six total tackles, one pass defensed).
Hughston Taylor returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown.

Our Lady of Mercy:
Running back and linebacker Jarrell Bankhead had four tackles, a fumble recovery and a touchdown, while defensive lineman Patrick Silloway added seven tackles.

Linebacker Will Simmons had nine tackles, and running back and defensive back Christian Willis had 10 tackles and 65 yards rushing on six carries.

Sandy Creek High School:
Running back Josh Williams ran 30 times for 105 yards and one touchdown.
Linebacker Matt Solomon had a team-high 12 total tackles and one fumble recovery.
Safety Russell Bonner had eight total tackles, including one for loss, and defensive end Jeremy Holt had eight total tackles, including two for loss.

Starr’s Mill High School:

Inside linebacker Chris Sudduth had a team-high 19 total tackles; inside linebacker Parker duPont had 15 total tackles; cornerback Nick Fevella had13 total tackles; and defensive end Nate Baker had 14 total tackles.

Whitewater High School:

Safety Chris Asbury had three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. He also had five tackles, a caused fumble and a blocked punt. Kicker J.C. Jennings had two field goals (52 yards, 37 yards), while linebacker Ryan Hidalgo had six tackles, strong safety Ryan Fleming added six tackles and linebacker Zach Mann added five more.
