McIntosh cross country teams start season off on right feet

The McIntosh High School boys and girls cross country teams won their first meet of the season earlier this week.

Competing against teams from Lithia Springs High School and Sandy Creek High School, the McIntosh girls won with a score of 22 points. Sandy Creek scored 91 points and Lithia Springs scored 111 points. McIntosh girls were the top two finishers: 1st - Emily Husted (23:20) and 2nd - Emily Kim (23:22). Rounding out the top seven girls finishers: 3rd - Jessica Torres (Lithia Springs 23:24), 4th - Rebekah Anders (McIntosh 24:08), 5th - Erin Dunphy (Sandy Creek 24:33), 6th - Shelby Bolling (Sandy Creek 24:39), 7th - April Esposito (McIntosh 24:41).

Other top McIntosh runners include: Elizabeth Brasch (24:42) Ally Montemurro (24:45) and Christen Downing (25:13).

The McIntosh boys scored 20 points, while Lithia Springs scored 111 points and Sandy Creek scored 138 points. The top boys finisher was V. Walker from Lithia Springs. The rest of the top 7 finishers were all McIntosh runners: 2nd - Cormac Carolan (18:10), 3rd - Vince Brown (18:38), 4th - Mike Cool (19:05), 5th - Brendan Leonard (19:24), 6th - Carl Eifert (19:38), 7th - John Janigan (19:53), 8th - Chase Crawford (20:02).

The top Sandy Creek finisher was Sean Williams (21:19).
