Edna Alice Lyle Mayfield, 91, Fayetteville, formerly of Atlanta, died June 23, 2007. She was born Aug. 17, 1915 in Fulton County.

Reba Spivey Mathews, 89, Fayetteville, died June 4, 2007. She was born Sept.14, 1917 in Coffee County and had lived in Fayetteville since 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Mathews, and a son, Kenneth Mathews,formerly of Cochran. She had been a nurse's aid in the Aiken County Hospital, South Carolina, before moving to New York in 1958. She continued at that capacity at the Forest Hills Hospital in Queens, N.Y. She was graduated from Queens Beauty Institute, Inc. School of Cosmetology with honors in 1963 and the Academy of Beauty in Atlanta in 1967. She worked as a beautician until her retirement.

Luther Calvin Whitworth, 82, Senoia, died June 8, 2007. He was born on May 2, 1925 in Madison County, Ala. Graveside services were at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Jonesboro, with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Survivors include sons, Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Whitworth, Senoia, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Whitworth, Fayetteville; a daughter, Sandra Fryer, Griffin; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Estelle Dupree, East Point, and Loraine Stephens, Hazel Green, Ala.

William E. Jones, 55, Fairburn, died June 12, 2007. He was born Aug. 4, 1951 in Fulton County. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park. Survivors include his wife, Sheryl Jones, Fairburn; a son, Billy Jones and finance, Amanda Austin, Fairburn; daughters, Deonna and Albert Norton, and Leigh and Bubba Smith, Franklin; a brother, Ricky Jones, Newnan; sisters, Barbara Frisch, Covington, Janice Bassett, Maysville, Dianne Lewis, Brooks, and Louise Alexander, Texas; mother-in-law, Evelyn Sheffield; and grandchildren, Dakota Smith and Brianna Smith.

Lindsey Hand Barron, 83, Newnan, died June 16, 2007. He was born Dec. 16,1923 in Greenville, S. C., son of Zeddie Pleasant and Opal Hand Barron. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Zeddie P. Barron Jr., Catharine Barron Edwards, and a cousin, Harry Elvin Barron. He was a graduate of Northwestern Midshipmen School.

Lucille Avo Higginbotham Langley, 85, Palmetto, died June 17, 2007. She was born Sept. 18,1921 in Anderson, Ala., the daughter of Charlie Tillman and Mattie Mae McGraw Higginbotham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, the Rev. Renard W. Langley. After graduating from high school, she moved to Atlanta and worked for Continental Insurance. In addition to being a homemaker, she ran her own income tax service in Hapeville for many years.

Luther Calvin Whitworth, 82, Senoia, died June 8, 2007. He was born on May 2, 1925 in Madison County, Ala. Graveside services were at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Jonesboro, with the Rev.

Horace "Bud" Shelton, 69, Fayetteville, died June 8, 2007. He was born Feb. 7, 1938 in Gwinnett County. He was a 12-year veteran in the United States Army, with service in Vietnam.

Joanie Sprayberry, 68, Riverdale, died June 4, 2007. She was born Nov. 3, 1938 in Calhoun, Ala. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elisa Ann Sprayberry.

David Shannon "Fuzzy" Reynolds, 38, Alpharetta, died June 1, 2007. He was born March 25, 1969 in Fulton County. He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Reynolds.

Lawson Eugene Brown, 93, Fayetteville, died May 27, 2007. He was born April 16, 1914 in Lawrence County, Ga. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Jo Brown.

David R. Allen, 53, Covington, died May 25, 2007. He was born Oct. 1, 1954 in Dade County, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Roy Allen.

Mary E. Manto, 90, New Castle, Pa., died May 10, 2007. She was born April 2, 1917 in New Castle, the daughter of Biagio and Mary Masterpieto Cast.

Annie E. Chase, 83, Bainbridge, died May 19, 2007. She was born Jan. 25, 1924 in Sandston, Va., and moved to Hialeah, Fla. In 1946. She moved to Peachtree City in 1975 where she lived for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donnie Chase. Private memorial services were at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include daughters, Donna and Lowell Coffin, Tallahassee, Fla., and Shelley and Don Taylor, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Keith Taylor, Sharpsburg, Beverly Trainor, Fayetteville, Alan Hampton, North Richland Hills, Texas, and Greg Hampton, United Kingdom; and six great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Dr. Ronald Herman Janssen, 60, Fayetteville, died May 30, 2007. He was born Oct. 10, 1946 in Buckley, Ill. He died after a 45-year battle with diabetes. He maintained a kidney transplant for 25 years, persevering through other complications of diabetes, never losing faith or hope. He earned a B.A. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. He attended Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Ill., where he earned a master of divinity in 1972.

Sara Elizabeth Jones, 94, Fayetteville, died May 30, 2007. She was born July 29, 1912 in Vidalia, daughter of G. W. and Anne Seymore Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard F. Jones. She was a secretary in an elementary school in Broward County. Graveside services were at Brooks Memorial Cemetery with Elder Wayne Nash officiating.

Jessica Anne Hartley, 25, Fayetteville, died May 30, 2007. Services were at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. Father John Walsh officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include her parents, Tim and Mary-Ella Hartley Sr.; brothers, Joseph and Leslie Hartley, Joshua and Jasmine Hartley, Jacob Hartley, John-Paul Hartley, and Jared Hartley; a sister, Jenna Hartley; grandparents, Kent and Ghary Hartley, and Dan and Ruth Asci; and caregiver, Lisa Wilson. Saundra G. Williams, 68, Jonesboro, died May 30, 2007. She was born April 10, 1939 in Fulton County. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary E. Williams. She was a retired bus diver with MARTA with 27 years of service, and was a member of the A.T.U. local. Memorial services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Beverly Casstevens officiating.

Mary B. Smith, 94, Fayetteville, died May 30, 2007. She was born Oct. 10, 1912 in Clayton County. She was a member of the old Second Baptist Church of College Park and later McDonough Road Baptist Church. She had taught Sunday School for 63 years. Services were at McDonough Road Baptist with the Rev. J. W. Wallis and the Rev. Dr. David Chancey officiating. Interment was at the College Park Cemetery.

Charles M. Britt, 86, Brooks, died June 1, 2007. He was born June 10, 1920 in Spalding County. He had served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Steve Schofield, and the Rev. Derek Porter officiating. Interment was at Brooks Memorial Cemetery.

Maurie Claire Eubanks, 64, Brooks, died May 21, 2007. He was born Sept. 29, 1942 in Dade County, Fla. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ross Schultz. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was an avid Street Rodder enthusiast and enjoyed coaching youth baseball and football with the Optimist Club. He spent his life building everything from homes to malls to hospitals. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with Chaplain Kimberly Hardin officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Baptist Church Cemetery, Tifton, Ga. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Eubanks; a son, Greg Eubanks; daughters, Shelley Bamonte, and Julie Michelet; and grandchildren, Jessica Hicks, and Jake Eubanks. Carl J. William Robert "Bob" Clifton, 78, a resident of Fayette County since the late 1950s, died May 22, 2007. He was born March 6, 1929 in Marion County, Ill., the only son of the late G. Cecil and Opal Eddings Clifton. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen. He was a retired Delta Air Lines captain, former owner and developer of The Links Golf Course in Fayette County, and served on the Fayetteville City Council for eight years. He was an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, a teacher, and an investor in oil fields. He was a member of the Fayette Presbyterian Church. He had requested that his body be donated to Emory University School of Medicine for research. Memorial services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel.

Andrew Macuga, 47, Fayetteville, died May 23, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Wanda Macuga. A memorial service was held at the Overton Chapel at Fayetteville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Perkins officiating. Interment was at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Mich. Survivors include his son, Drew; daughters, Emily and Morgan; brothers, Dan and Penny Macuga, Santa Fe, N.M. and Chris and Paul Macuga, Huntsville, Ala.; and sisters, Sharon Graziani, Chicago, Ill, and Andrea and Maurice Levitt, Marietta. Rex McMonigle, 67, Riverdale, died May 25, 2007. He was born May 9, 1940 in Norwich, Conn. He was a Past Master of Riverdale Masonic Lodge #709 F&AM, and was a volunteer with the Georgia Sheriff's Youth Home. He was a retired as a mechanic at Eastern Airlines with 23 years of service and the Clayton County Sheriff's Office with 14 years of service. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating.

Dale G. Mehrhoff, 87, Fayetteville, formerly of Roodhouse, Ill., and Spring Hill, Fla., died May 26, 2007. He was born April 18, 1920 in Greene County, Ill. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. A private family memorial service will be at a later time. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Barbara Mehrhoff; a son, Tom and Carol Mehrhoff, Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Susan and Ron White, Fayetteville; and grandsons, Garhett White, and Justin White. Harold R. "Hal" Turner, 61, Fayetteville, died May 26, 2007. He was born Aug. 19, 1945 to Edward M. and Janie Kathleen Turner in Moultrie. He was graduated from Maury High School in Norfolk, Va. in 1963. He served in the United States Army for two years in Ethiopia during the Vietnam War. He received an MBA from the University of Georgia in 1971 and began a lifelong career in the insurance business. His family lived up and down the East coast and to LaGrange, Ga. For the last 10 years, he owned and operated L. P. Baker Insurance Agency, Tyrone.

Jimmy Crawford, 62, Fayetteville, died May 26, 2007. He was born July 12, 1944, in College Park. He was preceded in death by his father, James Harrison Crawford Sr. He was graduated from Clemson University in 1966. He was employed with Eastern Airlines for 25 years, retiring as a 727 captain. Memorial services will be tomorrow, May 31, at the Carl J. Mowell chapel.

Kenneth Bruce Owens Sr., 54, Fayetteville, died May 27, 2007. He was born April 7, 1953 in Fulton County. Memorial services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel. Survivors include sons, James A. Owens, Stockbridge, and Bruce Owens, Fayetteville; a grandson, Caleb Owens, Stockbridge; mother, Betty J. Owens, Fayetteville; a sister.
