Charles M. Britt, 86, Brooks, died June 1, 2007. He was born June 10, 1920 in Spalding County. He had served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Steve Schofield, and the Rev. Derek Porter officiating. Interment was at Brooks Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie K. Britt; sons, Donald C. Britt, Brooks, Jeffery C. and Maria Britt, Pennsylvania, and Robert M. Britt, DeKalb County; a daughter, Anne and Jon Galbraith, Loganville; four grandchildren; brothers, James M. Britt, and Ted H. Britt; and a sister, Patricia Toney. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
