I am new to the area and am curious to know why the new middle school in Fayetteville will only have 300 students when it opens It seems a waste of resources when the other schols are at capacity.

Did anyone else hear the helicopter that sounded as tho it was about to land on top of my house at about 8pm last night? We looked outside but it was gone already.

Maybe if top level management weren't paid so handsomely, there would be money to pay health insurance for workers. Maybe if the 1% that have 40% were taxed at a reasonable rate the gov't could subs. insurance.

Well folks the third Democrat to announce his candidacy for president, Obama, has announced that he will pursue Universal Health Coverage for the entire population. Universal Health Coverage really means "SOCIALIZED MEDICINE."

Two things: 25 downtown wrecks and a 3 hour traffic jam downtown due to no one even knowing such a large seminar was in town and was nor prepared for it; second, why would any ne want to go to such a seminar anyway? They are all "losers." Most have had three wives, or lost wars, or are simply evil.

I was reading the “Tweaked annex bid gets PTC kudos” (Tue, 01/23/2007 ) article and I’m left wondering why the kudos? The Wieland guys are getting 495 houses on land where the current zoning calls for 150 houses. What are we getting in return for making the developer wealthy? Reading the article, I would say not much.

Fayette residents who still read newspapers -–there should be a few left-- must have seen ads and announcements for a 5-week course, on Wednesday nights, on the law. These courses are to be held at the LaFayette Educational Center (next to Fayette County High School) from February 7 to March 7, between 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm.

Late yesterday afternoon during rush hour home I dopped into the Fayetteville Wal-Mart to look for a new CD. I don't know what I was expecting, but turning into the parking lot to find a space it occurred to me that something was different ... it seemed less crowded, less hectic, the carts less amiss. Walking into the store, people passing by nodded hello and a friend from church I hadn't seen in months ran right into me with a big smile and "hey, how are you?" The interruption sent me trying to "enter" through the "exit" doors, and a friendly Wal-Mart greeter came out and jokingly said, "This way" as they rolled a cart toward me.

There is a freeze warning tonight for north of Georgia Highway 16, so everyone be careful.

You can bet we will see this more often.
