BEEN TO FVILLE WAL MART LATELY?

Newsboy's picture

Late yesterday afternoon during rush hour home I dopped into the Fayetteville Wal-Mart to look for a new CD. I don't know what I was expecting, but turning into the parking lot to find a space it occurred to me that something was different ... it seemed less crowded, less hectic, the carts less amiss. Walking into the store, people passing by nodded hello and a friend from church I hadn't seen in months ran right into me with a big smile and "hey, how are you?" The interruption sent me trying to "enter" through the "exit" doors, and a friendly Wal-Mart greeter came out and jokingly said, "This way" as they rolled a cart toward me.

Inside, I discovered a store that was orderly, quiet, clean, uncluttered, with wide aisles and employees who went out of their way to help me find what I was looking for. As I was checking out, I mentioned all this to the cashier and noted that this was probably the nicest I'd seen the Fayetteville Wal-Mart in at least five years. "Really?" she said, with a wide grin and a genuinely proud expression. "We've been trying."

When I asked if the renovation was complete, she said, "Oh, we haven't even started remodeling yet. That's coming in Februrary."

It's worth noting that a brand new Super Wal-Mart is getting ready to open (or maybe already has) on Old National Highway at Flat Shoals Road, which surely will draw some business away from Fayette Pavilion. Folks, if you haven't been to Wal-Mart lately check it out. Maybe we've turned a corner?

and I really hope that the whole "union station" remodeling of Shannon Mall will make those wonderful South Fultonites want to stay in union city. Every time I come home to Fayetteville it makes me sad to see so many Clayton and Fulton tags.

uggghhhhh, toll booths on 85,314,and 54..... PLEASE

If I have this right. According to you, if one has Fulton or Clayton county tags on his/or her car, they're a hoodlum who has only maleficent mischief in mind and therefore, unworthy and unwelcomed to cross into Fayette County?

Statistically speaking..... yes!

Or better yet, "If the shoe fits"...

No need to stutter while blogging, once will make us understand your point. I'd say Clayton, Fulton and DeKalb tags might be a warning for all of us law-abiding citizens. Nobody can deny how these counties have gone from bad to worse when it comes to criminality.

During the last 3 or 4 years, every time I went into the Fayetteville Wal-Mart, I swore I'd never go back in there again. I think I've been there maybe 4 or 5 times during that time period.

Parents were letting their kids run wild up and down the aisles, pulling stuff out and running around totally out of control... and how DARE you say something.

Everything was in "lock-down" due to the high theft rate that seemed to be tied to the number of Fulton and Clayton county car tags in the parking lot.

There was no help... they were always out of everything you needed and the store was filthy.

So, it's been well over a year since I stepped foot in their door. I'm the same distance to the PTC Wal-Mart so it's a wash to me.

But I may drop back in just to see the changes... let's hope they remain.

I haven't been to Wal-Mart lately, but on my way to Publix Wednesday night, I noticed that there were only two cars in the Tinseltown parking lot and Atlanta Bread Company was closed. On the way out of Publix, going south on Highway 85, there were no cars in the parking lots of Bugaboo and O'Charley's. Does anyone know why?

In my opinion.
