Annexation: Our stanards are falling like a rock

I was reading the “Tweaked annex bid gets PTC kudos” (Tue, 01/23/2007 ) article and I’m left wondering why the kudos? The Wieland guys are getting 495 houses on land where the current zoning calls for 150 houses. What are we getting in return for making the developer wealthy? Reading the article, I would say not much.

”Planning Commissioner Patrick Staples said it was important to him for the plan to preserve as many trees as possible.” Good boy Patrick, but if they build less homes we’ll save a ton of trees.

“Planning Commissioner Theo Scott said the plan’s golf cart access looked solid.” They actually included cart paths, wow!

“I for one applaud you for what you’ve done,” Mullin said. “It’s far better than what you had here.” What they had before was outragous. Yes, this version is better than outragous, but it certainly doesn’t deserve applause.

What we really get out of the annexation is 990 students without a school to put them in, another 1,200 cars on our roads, and another big drain on our city services. Why are we applauding?

I just can’t get used to the new developer-get-rich-quick phase and the loss of quality controlled growth.

We have standards??? Are we still talking about PTC? riverdale has standards, but PTC??

Are you nipping into the stuff the kids are using/selling on the paths??

Don't you have to have something first, before you lose it?!

Alright, Mudcat has posted a claim that the former mayor, Steve Brown, was soliciting bribes from John Wieland while he was mayor. Now since you, Mudcat, are a Direct PAC loser with a strong history on lying to the general public on issues like TDK, etc., why would we believe you on this claim?

You hate Steve Brown so badly you've already had him arrested and filed ethics charges against him with the state. Do you really think we would believe that YOU, the hater of all good in our community, wouldn't file charges against Steve in a heartbeat if you had that kind of information?

Oh yeah, you're a real big boy making such accusations under an anonymous tag on a website. You just like to poison the people with lies.

If you have proof, we all suggest you go to the proper authorities and have him arrested. However, you and your Direct PAC have lied so many times, it is impossible to believe anything you have to say, especially as an anonymous post on this website.

Mudcat you can pretend to be serious, but you can’t fake intelligence. You're so obsessed with Steve Brown that you will do or say anything to make him look bad. I really pity you!

Actually it was my significant other that helped with the ethics charges - February 1st , I think.

Anyhow, you want an answer you dope? Ok here it is

As I have said often, my participation here is only to respond to your attacks and unfounded accusations that the current Mayor and City council is taking bribes or is somehow beholding to the "development establishment" - a term you invented when you were mayor - or as we call it "the bad old days"

So the way this may work for you to is stay out of the kitchen. I don't mean at home, mr. house husband. What I mean is the famous and always relevant Harry Truman quote "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen." As a fellow Democrat, maybe you can get it on with him (no necrophilia, please) or his quote.

You accuse the current Mayor, and even former Mayors of taking bribes and creating opportunities for their development friends. And you keep it up constantly. But when I give you back some of your own medicine, you get real defensive. And yes, everyone with half a brain knows you are jones and sandy sue and spear and all the others.

Get a life and move on Steve, no one wants you here any more. Even Rothley told me your act is wearing him out. Please move to Sandy Springs. Rapson can introduce you to some fellow liberals.

Wieland turning down your request for a bribe - remember the condo in FL? That must have hurt, but at least you avoided an ethics charge, for that one anyway.

Standards are not falling, Steve, they have always been low and when you were mayor they got even lower. Your constant preaching about developer bribes is clearly a childish reaction to the fact that no one thought enough about you to offer a bribe. That's why you took the issue to Wieland and asked for a condo (during a moratorium).

johenry and all the bloggers who have a phony screen name starting with "s" are Steve (Big Box) Brown. A sad and pathetic loser.

To continue the theme, you will notice that Mudcat, once again, failed to give any arguments about what Johenry had to say. Instead, the Direct PAC slave tries the old dodge the argument and blame Steve Brown game. It's the only game Mudcat knows.

Steve Brown didn't have anything to do with the current mess on the westside or TDK. He's made his point pretty clear in the newspapers. On the other hand, Mudcat and his buddies will do anything to get those projects through. The negatives that Johenry points out are the music of the cash registers ringing to Direct PAC ears.
