dollaradayandfound: Cutting down trees

There is more yap on here about tree cutting from people who don't really know what they are talking about.
Yes, we have cut too many forests down in this country and have poorly replaced them, especially since one can never replace the fauna and flora and watersheds that went with them.

John Thompson: Watch movie magic unfold in Senoia

John Thompson's picture
Hollywood returned to Coweta County Saturday morning. During a day-long shoot at Riverwood Studios in Senoia, film crews shot footage for a movie trailer. The movie is a family film and centers around the search for Confederate gold. If a studio picks up the movie, more filming would occur in Senoia. The video shows one of the scenes being staged.

John Thompson: Watch heart attack victim thank his rescuers

John Thompson's picture
On November 15, Minter Elementary assistant principal Michael Smith was going through his normal workout at the World Gym in Fayetteville. Suddenly, Smith was stricken with a heart attack and collapsed at the gym. Gym workers and other people at the gym used the automatic defibrillator to administer immediate care until the Fayette County EMS showed up at the scene. On Thursday night, the Fayette County Commission honored the EMS staff, World Gym staff and residents for saving Smith's life. In the video, Smith offers his thanks.

Davids mom: Thank You Citizens and Law Enforement of Fayette County

Peachtree City and Fayetteville have been listed as among the safest cities in our country. I feel this is due to a citizenry that cares - and outstanding law enforcement practices. I shuddered the other day when I saw on the news a lady being robbed in a public parking lot while patrons appeared to calmly walk by. (They may not have realized what was happening.) Today a friend and I were talking in a parking lot in Fayette County. We may have looked distressed since one of us was on the cell phone trying to contact another friend. A gentleman looked over and politely asked if everything was all right. We smiled and answered in the affirmative. We were so impressed that he even was concerned!

You all know that Hackmeister is a reluctant warrior. You know, the "war is a last resort" deal. Well, if today's reports are accurate, we are there with Iran! If we don't join with our Brits in kicking Tehran's teeth in over the kidnapping of 15 British sailors, we will have failed our most faithful international partner.

Jones: What's the deal with Joel Cowan??

I read Steve Brown's comments about Joel Cowan with great interest.

"Joel Cowan was well aware of what the developer wanted to do with his land. He was also well aware of the overwhelming public sentiment against “big box” type development from the local citizenry or his neighbors. He had even expressed to me some years ago that he opposed the local big boxes. I guess this is one of those actions versus words dilemmas."

Xaymaca: Cautiously optimistic about the new paths on Redwine

Xaymaca's picture

As soon as the asphalt was dry on the new path on Redwine along the edge of Lakemont and Lakeside subdivisions, I had my bike out to test it. Very nice! Having spent the last 20 years in Maryland, I've been spoiled by the paved paths that go seem to everywhere. We saw these paths in action when we were originally looking at houses to buy in PTC. While it was cute to see the golf carts, we decided to settle in Fayetteville instead. The announcement of the new paths in Fayetteville was a pleasant surprise for our family. But even as I rode my bike I began to think about how things would change if people start getting more golf carts in our area. The paths are not that wide so I wonder how sharing the path with motorized vehicles will play out. How is it working out in Peachtree City. Do carts in PTC share paths well with runners, skaters and bikers?
