Now that PTC fire Chief

How come PTC and Fayette Co Fire department do not merge to make one great one. I bet it can save PTC tax payers some money and maybe their life.

Savings to PTC taxpayers, what are you thinking? Peachtree City would only be the cash cow for Fayette County Emergency Services! County residents pay a fire tax of what, JUST UNDER 4 mils (YES Just for a fire tax alone) and this doesn't include the additional 1.5 million dollars or so pulled from the county general fund in the form of an EMS budget for that same department.
On the other side, Peachtree City residents are taxed at what like a little over 4 mils for EVERYTHING including Fire, EMS, Police, Library, Public Works, Recreation, City Hall Operations, etc.... A merger of agency's could potentially almost double the tax that PTC residents pay for city services.
Show me the savings as a Peachtree City taxpayer
Second, it would be hard to justify the excellent type of station coverage in Peachtree City (28 sq. miles) with 4 stations, when the county (not including City of Fayetteville) covers over 150 sq. miles (over 170 sq. miles for EMS coverage) with 9 stations, under a merger of agency's. If I were a county resident, I'd want to have similar coverage under the terms of a merged department, or I'd feel slighted.

Peachtree City citizens should fight consolidation of services! Consolidation of services is good for Fayette County and bad for Peachtree City. Response times for Peachtree City citizens will increase dramatically. We do not want a decrease in services.

Here is the example all of you pro consolidation proponents need: EMS call in Brooks starts Station 81’s ambulance. While the PTC ambulance is in Brooks, there is an emergency in the industrial park in PTC. Normally, PTC would start the ambulance from Station 83 but since consolidation that station was closed because it is too close to Station 81.

If you live in the sticks you have slow response times, if you want faster response times, move to a municipality, it will even cost you less because there is no separate fire tax.

And I have a Fire Station 2 miles from my house. Another that is 4 miles from my house. The one in Brooks is about 5 miles from my house and the main one if Fayetteville is 9 miles. Personally I think that's pretty good. The limited times I've seen the need for EMS services they time getting there seemed very reasonable.

Now I don't think anyone said to close down the existing stations in PTC. In fact more may be needed. That I don't know. But the ONLY function of government that I would consider consolidating would be the Fire and Emergency Services. In my feeble business mind I can see that with the right leadership how one could develop a county wide lean mean rescuing machine with out duplicating many costs and providing increased and improved services. I actually see a potential mass savings to Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer.

However, Concerned Citizen the question is can one come up with competent, reliable and trustworthy leadership that could pull this off? Somehow I doubt it. But surely even us stick dwellers could come up with better leadership than Logsdon.

Change your name. You are undeserving to desecrate the memories of the dead such as you do. Cal Beverly killed of Get Real nearly a year ago. I know Get Real and trust me.... you are no Get Real. Now get a real and original name now.

In regards to Fire and Emergency Services your suggestion just might have merit. As long as a consolidation doesn't include the various law enforcement agencies.
