What's the deal with Joel Cowan??

I read Steve Brown's comments about Joel Cowan with great interest.

"Joel Cowan was well aware of what the developer wanted to do with his land. He was also well aware of the overwhelming public sentiment against “big box” type development from the local citizenry or his neighbors. He had even expressed to me some years ago that he opposed the local big boxes. I guess this is one of those actions versus words dilemmas."

One of my relatives worked for Joel Cowan back in his banking days. Back in those younger days he was all business.

I didn't think he had any vacant land left in Peachtree City. I know his children have been raking in the money with developments right outside the city around Redwine Road.

The PCDC guys have always complained that Joel Cowan got all the credit for their success and that he was always willing to take it. Why do you think Cowan would risk his legacy with the city on this big box deal? Is he broke?

It shouldn't surprise anyone about Joel Cowan selling to the big box developer. There are a separate set of laws for the chosen few in PTC.

Only Cowan's side of Lake Peachtree can put a motor boat in the water. That group also got the sewer run to their homes free of charge while others in the older areas have to pay outragous fees.

What area of PTC are you refering to when you say, "That group also got the sewer run to their homes",?

I ask as a friend of mine lives on Loblolly Circle and a few years ago he paid to has his house connected to the city sewer system. If I remember correctly it ran him about $11,000+.

They had to install a small pump house and run a line about 250 feet to the main on Hip Pocket.
