Jones: Bad Ronnie, Foolish Matt and our schools

Our forecast for local legislators is partly cloudly with a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms.

The word out of the state education department is both of the guys knew about this bill and they were silent as a favor to senate leader Eric Johnson. Sacrificing the little people to gain favor with the leadership.

Jones: Why is district voting a "risk" like Matt Ramsey said?

If Matt Ramsey thinks district voting will cause Fayette County to fall apart then why doesn't Matt complain about his being elected within the same Fayette County by district voting?

Jones: A new Quarry operation on PTC border?

Has anybody heard about a mining company wanting to start an operation right outside Peachtree City?

Please give me s

Jones: Spillman Family: Blog on Ramsey v Brown

Let’s talk about the election in much different way than the negative mud slinging of the paid Ramsey blogers.

Many on this site and people like the reporter from the AJC said Steve Brown is more polished and has more experience than the other candidates.

Jones: Election: Forget the paid blogers and make an honest comparison

Let’s talk about the election in much different way than the negative mud slinging of the paid Ramsey blogers.

Many on this site and people like the reporter from the AJC said Steve Brown is more polished and has more experience than the other candidates.

Jones: Paid candidate bloggers can't have an honest dialog on election

If Matt Ramsey's paid campaign manager is really paying bloggers to trash on the other candidates, he ought to be ashamed. You can state your opinion without lying or trash talking.

Jones: Political candidates who break the law

I went into Fayetteville to see an attorney over on Lanier Aveune and I was shocked at how Heidi Becker has just plastered signs on public property and city and state right of ways. She even put one in front of a church which could jeopardize the church's non-profit status.

Jones: Former city clerk says former mayors cheated local residents

You really have to wonder whether gang of former Peachtree City mayors has any moral authority left. They support the TDK extension and big box development even though the public doesn't.

Jones: Use Bob Lenox as your barometer with respect to who to vote for in Fayette County elections and you won't go wrong, guaranteed

It's really too darn bad that Bob Lenox did not weigh in on the Sturbaum and King race for Tuesday. It would have made the choice a whole lot easier for us.

Jones: Councilman Harman has a very flawed character

For sure, everyone was right on Mike Harman. The guy was lying through his teeth.

Steve Brown hit the bullseye in his column:

Jones: Brown's take on Fayette County elections - be a smart voter and do your homework

TYRONE. Post 2 is mostly between Eric Dial and Gordon Shenkle. Shenkle has been a definitive citizen advocate in the public forum (council meetings, newspaper) in the past on slow, controlled growth. He has clearly stated that increased sewer capacity would result in increased housing density and more traffic, etc. On the other hand, Dial is a lobbyist by trade and takes a stance on property rights akin to not wanting mandatory tree buffers and letting developers run amok in the community.

Jones: Beverly's take on Fayette County elections - be a smart voter and do your homework

My recommendations:

Don Haddix, Peachtree City Council Post 1

Mike King, Peachtree City Council Post 2

Don Rehwaldt, Tyrone mayor

Jones: Don't believe what a bunch of people who are afraid to list their name have to say on anything this election

A lot of people are telling you to vote for certain people with very little justification.

As we learned with the last election, things people say can be deceiving. A lot these unknown bloggers probably have something to gain from supporting their candidate as like what happened with Mayor Logsdon and Councilman Steve Boone.

Jones: Election intelligence

I'm probably going for Haddix over Harman on Post 1 because he's been around for 20 years and openly opposes the current developer nightmare. Harman has sewer skeletons in his closet according to many.

Jones: Brown missed on city e-mail address

Steve Brown's letter on the Kohl's hit the bullseye.

The only problem was he listed the city council's e-mail address as "city council.org." (???)

Jones: Our Man Dan Returns

The dregs of the city have returned. The same rabble-raiser who caused so many problems in Peachtree City is showing his teeth to Mayor Brown.

Jones: Get real TDK isn't dead

I have enjoyed reading all of the rhetoric about TDK. I especially enjoyed watching the Citizens video of the vote and I think its too bad they couldn’t get the entire discussion in the video clip. Why aren’t the council meetings on the government cable channel anyway?

Jones: Stacked deck, naughty mayor

I have to agree with former mayor Steve Brown about the growth panel. It does look like the event is going to be a TDK love fest.

Jones: FCBOE: 50 acres and no mule

Didn't you just have to love the coincidental pop-up of information that the FCBOE wanted a 50-acre site for an elementary and middle school in the West Village? Oh problem solved! Yeah right.

Jones: The Mayor is hunting for a "yes" man

I can only imagine what Harold Logsdon considers an "unbias" opinion.

The one guy who will do almost anything to get TDK into Coweta now says an "unbias" opinion is needed.

Jones: What's the deal with Joel Cowan??

I read Steve Brown's comments about Joel Cowan with great interest.

"Joel Cowan was well aware of what the developer wanted to do with his land. He was also well aware of the overwhelming public sentiment against “big box” type development from the local citizenry or his neighbors. He had even expressed to me some years ago that he opposed the local big boxes. I guess this is one of those actions versus words dilemmas."

Jones: TDK exposed, time to kill it for good

Say what you want to about former Mayor Steve Brown, but he tells the truth and battles for the populace. He called it just like it was in his letter to the editor on this very site dated 03/06/2007.

Jones: Big promise, little truth on Logsdon

A lot of the voters saw Harold Logsdon as a common sense, back to basics person who was a man of his word and had the best interests of the community at heart. Reality has painted a much different picture of the mayor and a lot of us are beginning to notice.

Jones: No free rides for developers on PTC westside!

The recent article “PTC ducks density issue for annexation” has the developers sounding like they are victims or something. Kathryn Zickert of Levitt and Sons acts like we owe her something for the privilege of her subdivision being in Peachtree City.

Jones: New comer's guide to Steve Brown/Direct PAC

Several bloggers who are new to town are wondering about Direct PAC and Steve Brown. This archive column might be helpful.

Jones: Beverly/ Logsdon/ Brown/ Pfeifer

Here is a blow-to-blow summary on Beverly, Logsdon, Brown and Pfeifer from the column entitled “OPINION: Point-Counterpoint on TDK, annexation, big boxes in PTC.”

Jones: Questionable development continues/Logsdon legacy

So the avalanche continues to fall on our heads. The questionable developments of the Logsdon era vs. our quality of life debate continue. More big box stores on Hwy. 54 west? A new big box on Hwy. 74 south? TDK, the road to gridlock, is moving right along too.

Jones: Limp-along Logsdon

Mayor Logsdon's tumultuous first year in office is being shadowed by his comments for upcoming years: "We've got some challanges, budget related, in the coming years."

Jones: Development Authority Scandal: Bailout begins Wednesday night

The meeting on the bailout of the development authority scandal loans is November 29 at 6:30 PM. There have been several great discussions on this web site regarding the matter. Here are some articles on the matter to help you make up your mind. I will post some others tomorrow.

Jones: Development Authority Scandal: relevant articles

You can do an advanced search through some Internet media services and find these. I listed only the two articles below because they are more applicable to the recent story regarding the use of city tax dollars to pay these debts. This should answer bad_ptc's questions on legal authority and accountability.
