Never mind the 10-15 year security to the construction industry from 3,500-plus houses, how many millions would have gone to local coffers from impact fees and the value of the raw land being taken off conservation status? Instead, Spalding County is reaping the benefits and (ironically) its schools have plenty of cash.

I have tried to report the fact that a house in our neighborhood holds countless illegals at a time. They come and go and supposedly work for the person who owns the house. I have even tried INS. No one has done anything.

Wanted to ask you about how to get someone (NAACP or ACLU) to look into a situation at one of our local schools that sounds alot like discrimination (a student was accused of cheating on a test because he received a higher than usual score... and he's black...he had to retake the test...no evidence of cheating).

I was browsing the net and ran across a reference to the Calhoun family in your posting. I descend from a Polly Calhoun who was supposed to be the sister of the mother of John C. Calhoun. Polly was married to Thomas Keown. I understand Polly may be the nickname for Mary. Any reference to this in your notes.

The Fire service saves lives. That's a very bold statement to make with regards to the hazards of the profession. The profession is often labeled as a " brotherhood." Consumers, beware of hiring CLM Sanitation for your garbage pickup provider. For the past two months I have been trying to get a refund from them and have received nothing but the runaround. In June I paid for the quarterly service for July, August, and September, only to move away at the end of July. I called to cancel my service and asked them to please send my refund of the unused balance to my new address. After three weeks, I called to check on my refund because I had not received it. I was told there was a ‘no refund’ policy and that I would not receive one. I immediately checked any correspondence I had on file from CLM as well as their website. There was absolutely nothing printed saying there would be no refund. I wrote an email to them explaining that, and that they could not assume a customer would know of such an unwritten policy or impose such a policy without notifying the customer. They agreed to mail me a refund, but asked that I give them a month to receive the check.

Everyday we face a new CRISIS.. at least that is what this Administration keeps telling us... WE had to have Tarp or Unemployment would go over 8%.. now at 9.7%

I found it quite humorous that, in September, Mr. Thompson would refute (in a recent letter to the editor) a column I wrote in March about his tax and spend mindset.

This week in Fayette State Court, I witnessed the Solicitor's office ask the Judge to "suppress" the fact that a young man had just served 15 months in Iraq. ( He was on trial for a DUI that had happened before he was deployed ). The reason given was they didn't want that fact to "sway the jury", yet the same Solicitor took over two hours telling the jury how great the arresting officer was and how many "certificates" he had.

or at least that is what the Administration is saying to Humana. It appears that Freedom of Speech does not
exist for some. THIS IS CHILLING TO SAY THE LEAST..

After watching all the coverage of the flood today and watching John Oxendine, it made me wonder what would happen if PTC's Mayor Logston were to become the new Insurance Commissioner? I was absolutely horrified at the thought! A man that has in his term as Mayor has done nothing but create a mess that he is completely unable to clean up.

Well another one bites the dust. Tom Corbin – The Public Works Director of PTC was let go Friday. It is unclear weather he was laid off or fired for cause.

Last Thursday I attended Glendalough Manor’s first Murder Mystery Dinner benefitting Breast Cancer Awareness. I will be honest, I had no idea what a Murder Mystery Dinner would entail, but the idea intrigued me (and of course it was for a good cause).
