Fraternity House or Firehouse......

The Fire service saves lives. That's a very bold statement to make with regards to the hazards of the profession. The profession is often labeled as a " brotherhood." The nature of the " job " requires a certain trust when the bell rings, tones drop, or whatever method is used to send you on the way to answering the call. This trust is developed initially through recruit training where basic skills are taught and mastered with the hope that these skills will save a life, or at least prevent harmful things from happening. These recruits are then given there initial assignment and report to shift work.....welcome to the real deal rookie!!!!! Hopefully, with a little initiative, a LOT of patience, and the willigness to be seen and not heard, these young firefighters will develop into integral parts of the team. Teamwork.....Trust......Ability.....these are just a few words that describe what is required to become a team member. This is not a fraternity, your physical strength is paramount in the basic fireground activities that must take place or people die!!! It has been said that there is a job for everyone on the fireground...very true, but what about the fire building that is burning with people needing help? Can you make the rescue,or the push that is needed to get to the fire room? Simple questions...Can You?
