or at least that is what the Administration is saying to Humana. It appears that Freedom of Speech does not
exist for some. THIS IS CHILLING TO SAY THE LEAST..

Humana is sending out a letter explaining what benefits that will be cut under the new policies. I guess this Administration feels that the subversive source used for this propaganda letter has no credibility. Oh the source Humana used to formulate their letter.. the CBO .

The letter has been fact checked and there are no inaccuracies however that does not stop this Administration from trying to strong arm their version by threats and the force of the Government.

This is a dangerous path we are traveling right now.

You know the Dems have tried for years to scare the elderly into thinking the Repubs were the ones who were going to take away their entitlements.. and all along the Dems were the ones plotting to do it.. They just cannot help themselves.. another hole in the foot.

The Obama administration warned insurance companies Monday they face possible legal action for allegedly trying to scare seniors with misleading information about the potential for lost benefits under health care legislation in Congress... Click for the rest of the story

The Government CANNOT use its powers like this. This is an abortion of the Constitution. A subversion of the 1st Admendment. I could not care less what Humana is doing... I do care however that our Government particulary this Administration thinks they can force a PRIVATE company or persons to shutup if they do not like what is being said..

Get past your wealth envy and see what is being done to the Constitution.

Humana is free to advertise its views on anything to the whole world.

But Humana is not free to use its mailing list of Medicare beneficiaries, obtained through the Medicare program, to send out its own political propaganda.

Every year, millions of Americans receive a Privacy Notice (required by law) from banks, credit card companies, and other financial providers, alerting them to their right to be let alone and not be subjected to mailings and solicitations from these companies and their so-called partners.

Insurance companies that want to participate in the Medicare program (as does Humana, in a big and profitable way) agree not to subject the Medicare beneficiaries to advertising or political messages. Otherwise, insurance companies could use the information they received for medical reasons only to pitch various products to their insureds.

Imagine, for instance, that you go to your doctor to complain of constipation. The doctor's report makes its way to the insurance company, and then two weeks later you start receiving advertising from laxative providers.

The message to Humana is clear. Pay your claims fairly and on time, and otherwise leave the seniors alone.

when the Government has control of those records.. Do you think they might share that record with groups like ACORN... possibly?

As far as taking Medicare payments and gag orders you are incorrect. Just because they take a subpart B Medicare does not stop them from participating in mailers and or newsletters giving information out to its customers.

However if you would have read the letter you would have seen it was non-political unless you think advising their members what certain legislation means to them as being political.. Clearly this Administration does.
And clearly it violates the Free Speech clause in the Constitution.. You cannot abrogate your rights away nor can the Government force you to do so by participating in a Government program.

they have the right to free speech, but the DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT to go into your personal file and use the information in it for their own gain. Which is exactly what they did!

Come of Lindsey, have you ever seen an insurance company on the public side?

30% of the money you pay into your insurance premium is taken off the top by the insurance companies...just to process the claims...and that's just the beginning!

Every time a claim is paid, it takes money away from the insurance companies' bottom line. Every time they find a loophole in your policy to not pay you, they will.

Do you think you can really peddle that BS that they went through these people's personal files, got the info and mailed these letters to them out of the goodness of their hearts? Hell No!

These letters were sent out purely for profit! Theirs!

If the government takes my info and uses it, I will cross that bridge when I come to it. You forget Lindsey...the government ...is...us...we the people.

The insurance companies care nothing for us! That is why the pay millions a year to lobbyist...to circumvent the public's will!
