illegals in our area

I have tried to report the fact that a house in our neighborhood holds countless illegals at a time. They come and go and supposedly work for the person who owns the house. I have even tried INS. No one has done anything.

EDITED for violation of terms of terms

Who can I get to do something about this?

County, cities can and will evict tenants and fine landlords for allowing too many unrelated persons in one dwelling (local laws are fairly strict).

I think its interesting that the owner of EDITED for violation of terms of terms has a different mailing address. This does give supporting evidence that something just does not seem right. There is no place for illegals in this country we have more then ample ways for people to come legally.

Without proof that these neighbors are illegal, it is highly irresponsible to post the name and address of this property in this public forum.

I will share my personal experience with the same type of situation that happened in my neighborhood.

We reported our observations of the number of adults and children in a nearby house (15+), along with knowing the number of bedrooms and it being on a one acre parcel, to the Fayette County Sheriff's Dept. A deputy came out to the house in less than a week to check it out. It was nice to see four less construction trucks arrive after dark and leave by sun-up after the deputy's visit.

You are correct that there can be county ordinances in violation under these circumstances, as we were told by the Sheriff's Dept. An important concern being a neighbor to an overpopulated house is the septic system isn't designed to handle the 'usage' of 3 times the number of people the house was built for.

Good luck and I hope this was somewhat helpful to you, unlike cyclist's post.

JM is right, you don't know their status.

I suspect that ICE does not have the manpower to follow-up on every tip. If they're illegal, ICE will catch them via a job site raid, social security background check or possibly during a local arrest. Unfortunately, it ain't a prefect system.

Wow.... You know they are illegal and INS did nothing? Could it be that maybe they have green cards, work permits or are actually - HERE LEGALLY?

Don't get me wrong I too have seen several Canadians here, eh? But it's hard to tell if they are here legally or illegally by just looking at them.

There are many men in this house. Often they come in for weeks and are gone for weeks.
So, let us give them the benefit of the doubt. Isn't it still against the county ordinances for the number of people living in a single family dwelling who are not members of the same family?
I doubt they are all brothers.....

Are you saying that this is any different then 3 or four single flight attendants (regardless of sex, regardless of race, just regardless) renting a four bedroom home? It happens. All the time. Same with college students. Municipalities have had to rework the whole single family residence concept. In fact in Fayette County the International Property Maintenance Code is the main tool used by most of the municipal governments. It has removed the family definition concept and replaced it with required space per person in the home. And not just sleeping space, but total living space to include kitchens and dining areas. Some have even adopted local amendments to specify the amount of closet space per person and then not allow that space to count as living space.

Fayetteville has Code Enforcement, call them. It is always better to attack a problem at the lowest possible level. And with a little research, you may be better suited to explain what you are actually wanting to complain about to the people you are complaining to. I say this as I do not believe that the number of people in that house and there comings and goings over time is your true concern.

Is it possible that the authorities have already checked their license plates and information regarding where they are working - and know that they have work permits? Code enforcement may be the way to go - if you are truly concerned about the number of people in the house rather than their ethnicity. Everyone in our country who speaks with an accent is not an illegal.
