Ellen Louise Thompson

Ellen Louise Thompson, 74, Fayetteville, died May 31, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charles "Chuck" Thompson. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Gary Boyd and the Rev. Hugh Kirby officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include daughters, Luanne and Rocky McGinnis, Sevierville, Tenn., and Lynne and Neal Nelson, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Noah McGinnis, Jordan McGinnis, Blakely Nelson, and Sarah Nelson; a brother, Jerry and Charlene Langley, Jacksonville, Fla.; and a sister, Peggy and John Aydlett, Perry. Robert David Smith Sr.

Robert David "RD" Smith Sr., 89, Fayetteville, died May 19, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma McCray Smith. He was a 36-year pilot for Eastern Air Lines and a member of The Quiet Birdmen. He was an expert restorer of antique autos and a member and judge for The Antique Automobile Club of America. He was also a woodworker and a clock maker. He was a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Fellowship-Disciple Sunday School Class. Services were at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Westmoreland officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Patricia White

Patricia White, 70, Jonesboro, died May 20, 2009. She was born June 29, 1938, daughter of Bradley and Florence Melear Pope. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett White. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Irvin Pearre officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Survivors include her son, Timothy and Joanne White, Williamson; grandchildren, Kimberly White and Bradley White, both of Williamson; and a brother, Leroy and Ann Pope, Jonesboro. Carl J. Amy Beth Wayton

Amy Beth Wayton, 44, Peachtree City, died May 20, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Lee Beauchamp. Her focus and dedication was to her family, to create a home filled with love and happiness as reflected in her children.

Kelly R. Williams

Kelly R. Williams, Peachtree City, died May 23, 2009, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Ranes Williams in 2004, and a brother, Kerry, in 2008.He was born Aug. 22, 1961. He grew up in Posey County, Ind., graduating North Posey High School in 1979. He went to the University of Southern Indiana on a full basketball scholarship. After graduation, he played professional basketball in Stockholm, Sweden. He then worked in the poly resin supply industry for over 20 years and was owner of Alliance Polymers, Inc. in Peachtree City. He enjoyed recreational tennis and was a member of ALTA and USTA, playing regularly at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.

Gordon Maxwell Webster

Gordon Maxwell "Max" Webster, 93, Peachtree City, died May 23, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Mary Taylor Webster. He was born in Teeswater, Ontario, Canada, later moving to Georgia with his family while still an infant. He was a charter member of the Peachtree City United Methodist Church, devoting many hours to the church facilities during its early growth. He was a brother in Christ to fellow members of the Ad Loy Ho Sunday School Class. He took pleasure in working around the house, making furniture, tending his garden, and growing orchids. Services were at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church with the Rev. Herzen Andone, and the Rev. Stephen Kendrick officiating.

Patricia J. Woodward

Patricia J. Woodward, Fayetteville, died May 24, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel O. Woodward, and a daughter, Victoria Annette. Services are today, May 27, at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bob Powers will officiate and interment is at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include sons, Greg and Denise Woodward, Fayetteville, and Jeff and Denise Woodward, McDonough; a sister, Carolyn and Tommy Reese, Fayetteville; and grandchildren, Jason Woodward, Amanda Woodward, Emily Woodward, Ryan Rose, Peyton Woodward, and Rand Rose.

Robert Erickson

Robert "Bob" Erickson, 88, Tyrone, formerly of Fayetteville, died May 9, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lorraine Erickson. He was retired from Western Electric in 1975 in Winston-Salem, N.C., and enjoyed retirement in Sun City, Ariz. for 16 years. He then moved to Georgia and opened the Minuteman Press Printing & Copy Center in Fayetteville. Together with co-owner Marlene Bulgarelli, he worked almost daily until they sold the business in 2008. No local services are planned.

Gene Mahathey

Capt. Gene Mahathey, 72, Fayetteville, died May 12, 2009. He was a loving husband and father, as well as an avid golfer. He was retired from Delta Airlines with 32 years of service. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with Dr. Henry Jones officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn.

Roseanna M. Fernholz

Roseanna M. Fernholz, Fayetteville, died May 13, 2009. Services were in Cranston, R. I. Survivors include a sister, Bertha and Craig Peddicord, Fayetteville; a niece, Kimberly and James Cousins, Woodstock; great-nephews, Matthew Cousins, and Alexander Cousins, both of Woodstock; and a great-niece, Caroline Cousins, Woodstock.

Sandra Moore Teague

Sandra "L'Fello" Moore Teague, 70, Fayetteville, died May 15, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Teague. She was retired as a manager of member services in 1992 from Delta Community Credit Union with over 30 years of service. She was volunteer for Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief and an active member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Services were at the Overton Chapel of Fayetteville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Harold Jenson

Harold Jenson, 94, Fayetteville, died May 18, 2009. Services are tomorrow, May 21, at 11 a.m., at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Charles C. Rowe

Charles C. Rowe, 84,Fayetteville, died May 4, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Slay Rowe. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force. After retiring from the military he worked for 14 years in supply chain management for the Trane Corporation. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of its Clown Ministry, and was fondly knows as "Uncle Dudley the Clown." He enjoyed fishing and was an accomplished do-it-yourselfer.

Edd Lewis Simmons

Dr. Edd Lewis Simmons, 82, Fayetteville, died May 5, 2009. He was a 1943 graduate of Russell High School. He practiced dentistry for 55 years in the military, in Fairburn, East Point, College Park, Cedartown, and Ben Hill. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, the North District Association, and the Atlanta Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society. Services were at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Partridge and the Rev. Mark Westmoreland officiating. Interment was private.

Roger Fredrick Shurtz

Roger Fredrick Shurtz, 95, Fayetteville, died May 5, 2009. He was born June 22, 1913, in Waltonville, Ill., the first child of Carl H. and Georgia Fairchild Shurtz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Bates Shurtz, who died in January 1966, and a sister, Dorothy Ferris. He grew up on a farm and attended the local schools, graduating from Mt. Vernon High School in 1930. He enlisted in the United States Navy in August, 1933, retiring with the rank of Lt. Commander in July, 1961. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and earned seven medals and commendations.

Rebecca Kaupman

Rebecca Kaupman, 68, Fayetteville, died May 6, 2009. She worked for the Fayette County Board of Education as a cafeteria worker at Whitewater Middle School for over seven years. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City.

Jacalyn Mae Woodley

Jacalyn Mae Woodley, Peachtree City, died May 6, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Woodley. She was a member of Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. Services were at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church with Pastor Miriam Beecher and Pastor Dave Johnson officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City.

Ruby M. Huckaby

Ruby M. Huckaby, 103, Fayetteville, died May 6, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Shelton Huckaby, her parents, John and Addie Mays, brothers, Glenn Mays, Robert Mays, Wyman Mays, and J. P. Mays, and sisters, Marcy McGarity, Tiny Pressley, and Ruth Davidson. Services were at the Overton Chapel of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating.

Deloris Knott Lynch

Deloris Knott Lynch, 68, Brooks, died May 7, 2009. She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Dorsey Knott. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Edward Lynch officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Hazel Adams Parrott

Hazel Adams Parrott, 89, Fayetteville, died May 8, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Parrott Jr., parents, John and Clara Hammock Adams; and grandsons, Jeff Wilson, Keith Bishop, and Andrew Paul Knight. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Bill Priester and the Rev. Jerry Cross officiating.

Norma Frances Allen Fender

Norma Frances Allen Fender, Peachtree City, formerly of Roanoke, Va., died April 25, 2009. She was born April 21, 1922 in Winston-Salem, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Quentin Fender, a brother, Buddy Allen, and sisters, Wilma Martin and Mary Shaver. She taught dancing in Roanoke for many years prior to moving to Peachtree City. She was a faithful member of Peachtree City United Methodist Church and especially loved her Sunday School class.

Caleb Chase Moffat

Caleb Chase Moffat, 26, Peachtree City, died April 23, 2009. He was born March 17, 1983 in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. The family moved to the United States in August, 1995. His dream was a career in professional hockey and his hockey journey took him to the four corners of North America in the minor professional leagues of Canada and the United States.

Jane Dennis Crowe

Jane Dennis Crowe, 63, Fayetteville, died April 26, 2009. She was born October 16, 1945, daughter of the late Douglas and Henrietta Redwine Dennis. She earned her B.A. in English education from Florida State University in 1968, an M.A.T. in English from Georgia State University in 1975 and her Ph.D. in English education from Georgia State University in 1982. She taught at schools in North Clayton, Pace Academy, DeKalb Community College and College Park High School. She became head of the Advanced Placement Program of the English department at McIntosh High School. Even in semi-retirement she continued teaching at Whitewater and Sandy Creek middle schools.

William Thomas Sharp Jr

William "Tom" Thomas Sharp Jr., 79, died April 27, 2009. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Dan Houston officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife, Fay Sharp; a son, Keith Sharp; a daughter, Donna and Randy Smith; and grandchildren, Damir Smith and Karmen Smith. Carl J. Charles M. Voyles

Charles M. Voyles, 82, Fayetteville, died April 28, 2009. He was graduated from Young Harris College, and was graduated magna cum laude from the Woodrow Wilson School of Law. He was a lifetime member of the Kiwanis Club of Fayette County with 35 years of perfect attendance. He was a past president of the Fayette County Bar Association, the Fayette County Kiwanis Club, and the Young Harris Alumni Foundation. He was a faithful and devoted member of His Workers Sunday School class at Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating.

James Richard Boykin Sr.

James "Jimmy" Richard Boykin Sr., 65, Fayetteville, died April 29, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Maggie Boykin, a brother, Robert Boykin, and a sister, Frances Beetham. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel.

Helene Louvale Graves

Helene Louvale Graves, 80, Fayetteville, died May 5, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Graves. She worked for S&H Green Stamp Co., until she retired to assist her husband with the family business. She was a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. Services were at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Westmoreland and the Rev. Gary Parrish officiating. Interment was at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, Tyrone.

Erman Ladell Walden

Erman Ladell "Tommy" Walden, 61, Fayetteville, died April 12, 2009. He was veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a medic and surgical nurse. Following his military duty he worked as a paramedic for Atlanta South Ambulance Company. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, north campus. Memorial services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel.
