Dru Virginia Bogert, 84, Fayetteville, died Oct. 22, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel James Bogert, and a daughter, Darci Boyd. She tried to live her life with a smile on her face, even under difficult circumstances. Memorial services were the Fayetteville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Murlene Hunton Butt

Murlene Hunton Butt, Fayetteville, died Oct. 22, 2009. She was a business woman for 40 years and participated in the Fayette Senior Services Meals on Wheels. She was interested in sewing, cooking, photography, and helping the elderly. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ. Services were at the Carl J. Elva Mae Brooks, 91, Moreland, died Oct. 8, 2009. She was born in Sargent, Ga. Donna Ann Adams, Fairburn, died Oct. 10, 2009. Barbara Beverlin Graves, 75,Fayetteville, died Oct. 10, 2009. She was born Dec. 25, 1933 in Winterset, Iowa to the late Robert and Wilma Beverlin. Maggie C. Banks

Maggie C. Banks, 93, Fayetteville, died Oct. 15, 2009. She was born in College Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tasso and Rodie Culver, and her husband of 53 years, Herschel L. Banks. She moved to Fayetteville in 1940 where she was retired from the Fayette County school system. She began her career here as manager of the Fayette County High School lunchroom. In 1979 the senior class of the high school honored "Miss Maggie" by dedicating their yearbook to her. Among her other honors was being recognized as one of the county's best cooks and being named Fayette County Citizen of the Year in 1980. When Fayette County began its vocational programs, she became the food service instructor and remained in that position until she retired in 1986. She was a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church and loved her J.O.Y. Sunday School Class. Services were at the Fayetteville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Cemetery, Fayetteville.

Patricia B. Mitchell

Patricia B. Mitchell, Peachtree City, died Oct. 16, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Michell, and father, Bill Burroughs. Memorial services were at St. Andrews-in-the-Pines Episcopal Church with the Rev. Fr. Paul Elliott officiating. Clifton Lee Daniels Sr.

Clifton Lee Daniels Sr., 87, Peachtree City, died Oct. 16, 2009. He was born April 15, 1922 in Wadesboro, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Jonus and Ida Mae Heavener Daniels, his wife, Teruko Toma Daniels, sons, Wesley, Jay and Dwayne Daniels, a brother, John Daniels, and a sister, Sara Beverly. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years and retired as a master sergeant with tours of duty in World War II, Korea, and two tours in Vietnam. He later retired after 15 years with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in 1991.

Ernest L. Dockery

Ernest L. Dockery, 70, Gay, died Oct. 5, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley Loren and Lillian Blanch Monroe Dockery. He was a native Northern Cheyenne, and member of the "Monroe" clan. He had served as a Ranger in the United States Army, having completed three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was cremated and no immediate services are planned.

Annie Pankey

Annie Pankey, 87, Fayetteville, died Oct. 5, 2009. Memorial services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel. Survivors include her husband, Edwin W. Pankey Jr.; and a sister, Cecil Colson, Eutaw, Ala. Steward A. "Stew" Sparks Jr., 82, Fayetteville, died Oct. 7, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steward A. and Cecelia Shellhart Sparks Sr. Private graveside services were held. Harlan Joseph Quamme

Harlan Joseph Quamme, 73, a second generation American of Norwegian-Swedish descent, died Oct. 9, 2009. He was born March 26, 1936 to the late Joseph Hanson and Grace Marie Carlson Quamme, in Minneapolis, Minn. He was graduated from Edison High School there, and while in high school, joined the Minnesota Air Guard. He left the University of Minnesota to enter the United States Air Force cadet program where he was graduated number one in his class. He won the Caterpillar Award twice for ejecting out of a jet with a safe parachute landing. He returned to the Minnesota Guard and the University of Minnesota.

Shawn P. McCloskey

Sgt. 1st Class Shawn P. "Mac" McCloskey, 33, died Sept. 16, 2009. He was serving with Company B, 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Airborne. While conducting a mounted patrol in the Afghan city of Ghur Ghun, his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device on Sept. 15, 2009. He knew who and what he was fighting for. He was a native of Hudson, N.Y., and grew up in Kennesaw and Peachtree City. He loved carpentry work, and spending time with family and friends. Services were at St. Matthew's Catholic Parish, Tyrone with graveside services at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City.

Ingrid V. McCorkle

Ingrid V. McCorkle, Palmetto, died Sept. 22, 2008. She was preceded in death by a sister, Yolanda Eslinger VanLoo. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Talmadge Crawford officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn. Betty Jean Sheffield

Betty Jean Sheffield, 75, Haralson, formerly of Fayetteville, died Sept. 23, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie "Bill" and Mamie Weathersby of Leesburg, Ga. Her most treasured possession was her family and other than home, her favorite place was the mountains. A celebration of life was at Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Lavon Womack officiating.

Melissa Maureen Illingworth Davis

Melissa Maureen Illingworth Davis, 37, Rowlett, Texas, died Sept. 23, 2009. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sandra Illingworth. She was a 1989 graduate of Fayette County High School where she sang in the chorus. She had worked for the Clayton News Daily, the Newnan Times-Herald, and the Dallas Morning News. She was an animal lover and loved to travel. A funeral mass was held at the Catholic Church of St. Gabriel with the Rev. Father Mike McWhorter officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Sharon Padgett Harrison

Sharon Padgett Harrison, 46, Brooks, died Sept. 26, 2009. She was born in Coweta County to the late Dewey and Pearl Padgett. She had worked as an inventory clerk at the Fayette County Water System. Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel. Survivors include her husband, Donnie Harrison, Brooks; a son, Jeremy and Courtney Harrison, Senoia; a daughter, Melissa Harrison, Brooks; a brother, Steve and Betty Padgett, Brooks; sisters, Deborah and Jim Brown, Newnan, and Ginger and Wayne Couch, Brooks; and grandchildren, Kylee, Angle, D. Cornelious Antwone Braswell

Cornelious Antwone Braswell, Newnan, died Sept. 7, 2009. He was born June 19, 1986. He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Braswell. He was baptized into the membership of the Greater Mt. Zion AME Church. He attended Elm Street Elementary School and Newnan High Schools. He enjoyed playing on the basketball team, and also played football.

Eddie B. Glass

Eddie B. Glass, Roberta, formerly of Newnan, died Sept. 8, 2009. He was born March 15, 1926 to the late Fletcher and Minnie Glass in Coweta County. He was educated in the Coweta County school system. He was a veteran of the United States Army, entering at Fort Benning on July 7, 1944 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class in June, 1946 at Camp Shelby, Miss. Services were at the Roscoe Jenkins chapel with interment at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville. Survivors include sisters, Rosie Lee Pinson, Chicago, and Azzie L. Thompson, Newnan. Belinda Gail Strickland Turner

Belinda Gail Strickland Turner, 53, Fayetteville, formerly of Newnan, died Sept. 12, 2009 after a battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, Hardwick D. Strickland. Memorial services are today, Wednesday, Sept. 16th. at 2 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Wood and the Rev. Gilbert Fields officiating.

Charles Lee Woodall

Charles Lee Woodall, 82, Fayetteville, died Sept. 14, 2009. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Woodall. He was a veteran of the United States Army and had fought in the Korean War. He attended Woodrow Wilson Law School and after receiving his degree was employed with The Life Insurance Company of Georgia. He retired with 44 years of service. He was a member of the Griffin Masonic Lodge, the Hapeville Lions Club, and a member of Southwest Christian Church. He volunteered his time with the MAR drug rehabilitation program. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at Westwood Gardens, Griffin.

Edith Henriette Chillemi

Edith Henriette Chillemi, 93, Peachtree City, formerly of Newnan, died Sept. 16, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Domenic Chillemi. Interment of her cremains will be held at a later date at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif. Lewis E. Seay, 84, Fayetteville, died Sept. 18. 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillian Seay, Snellville. He was a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church. He always enjoyed singing and was director of music in several surrounding churches in his earlier years. Services were at the Overton Chapel of Fayetteville First Baptist Church with the Rev.
