The Coweta County Commission has set a Tuesday evening vote on the biggest development in the county's history. Developer Tom Reese's McIntosh Village could bring more than $1 billion in revenue to the county and state after it's completed in 15 years. The village, located near Sharpsburg and bordering Peachtree City, would be home to nearly 9,000 residents and a commercial component half the size of the Fayette Pavilion. The vote is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday night at the county administrative complex in Newnan.
More lane closures scheduled in Coweta this weekDOT officials announced Friday the southbound outside lane of Interstate 85 in Coweta County will be closed each day from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. from April 16, through April 19, beginning at Mile Post 47 south to Mile Post 45. Also beginning Monday, April 16, through Thursday, April 19, the north bound outside lane will be closed daily from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. beginning at Mile Post 41 north to Mile Post 42. This closure is due to the widening and lane reconstruction project currently underway. Shoulders are closed in these construction areas, and extreme caution should be observed. The students served as pages for the Senate on their assigned day.
