A group of students from McIntosh High School have put together a Guitar Hero II tournament in an effort to raise money for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in the name of Child’s Play, a charity organization that doantes videogames, toys, movies, etc. to children’s hospitals all over the world.

The tournament started as a project for an English class taught by Jana Miller. The students were asked to do research on a charitable organization and do some volunteer work for them. Matt Coppola, Alex Mercado, April Ford, William Ballard and Craig Veilleux chose Child’s Play but couldn’t volunteer because the organization is based in Seattle, Wash. Miller suggested holding a video game tournament and donating the funds to a children’s hospital. Child’s Play was more than happy to have a donation made in their name.

The tournament will take place Saturday, Apr. 22 at 2 p.m. at XPlayground in Peachtree City. The game will be Guitar Hero II on XBox360 and admission is $5, whether you want to play or just watch.

XPlayground is located at 313 Dividend Drive in Peachtree City. Visit www.xplayground.biz for more information.

I can't thank you enough for posting this on your website. I'm sure it will attract more attention to this event. However, one little thing I would like to point out is that the tournament is on Sunday, April 22nd, not Saturday. Not that big of a deal, but I just wanted to make it clear.

Still, you couldn't imagine my reaction coming on to the website and seeing this! I'm very excited about the tournament. It's gonna be great!

This happened after I sent this information, so I thought I should let you know that another group from another English class has joined our group. Their names are Reid White, Jennifer Crosson, Esha Ramsey, and Ambar Estevez. They're helping with advertising, and will also be working the tournament with us.
