Town looking for more sewer capacity

Tyrone Town Manager Barry Amos confirmed this week the town is looking to increase its sewer capacity from the city of Fairburn.

Currently, the town has an agreement with Fairburn to provide 250,000 gallons of sewer capacity a day to the town. In January, Fairburn approved Tyrone’s purchase of up to 250,000 gallons of sewage treatment per day, approximately one-fourth of Fairburn’s one million gallon capacity at Fulton County’s Camp Creek Plant. Fairburn approved the proposed $1.06 million deal for the quarter-million gallon capacity along with $227,486 for capital and engineering costs incurred by Fairburn over the past four years, said Fairburn City Administrator Jim Williams. Tyrone has already paid $570,000 of the total amount, leaving a balance of approximately $720,000, Williams said.

But now, Tyrone is running short of capacity, and if any further development is to take place, the capacity would have to be increased.

“We’re asking them for an additional 250,000 gallons a day, which would allow us to sewer our downtown area, along with cleaning up such areas as Millbrook Village, which has had septic problems since the development was started.

Amos doesn’t know if the capacity is available, but said the town needs to know for future planning.

If I wanted to build a house and I couldn;t get septic or sewer...I wouldn't be given a permit. Then again I'm not a particular "Holding" company in Tyrone. When are you guys going to stop letting them OVER develop Tyrone?
