dpina: It's Okay

Hey Guys, I promise this will be the last time we respond but I just would like to comment that until you hear ALL the facts, please do not be judgemental. I assure you my wife does not have a drinking problem and for the person who says she heard rumours of her partying with Mcintosh students... what is that all about? When did rumours become facts? Please provide dates, times, students etc. If you are going to make comments like that, please back it up and sign your full name. I challange you to come up with one student who did not learn in her classes It takes a courageous person to throw stones AND print their full name. I assure you folks we are not passing the blame or running from the truth. We are saying wait until you hear all the facts and than pass judgment. I am going to sign my name,

johenry: Stop lap dancing with Mayor Logsdon

Does anyone really believe the PTC council vote on TDK? They're just trying to get the public to back down.

I believe the council said the road is on "hold" which means it can come back at any time. I love the part about the city council "unofficially" signaling the Fayette County Commission (oh how weak). Why wouldn't the city officially tell the county commission?? This is another smoke screen! Coweta County will make all kinds of promises and then everyone will jump back into action building the extension.

ShortField: Free Genarlow

I have to put my two cents worth in here for Genarlow Wilson. For those of you unfamiliar, he was the 17 year old black male convicted as a sex offender for consensual oral sex with a 15 year old. He is currently serving a 10 year sentence for aggravated child molestation. Yesterday Judge Thomas Wilson of the Monroe County Superior Court found that Genarlow’s sentence met the definition of “cruel and unusual punishment”, granted his appeal, and changed his conviction to a misdemeanor. This meant that since Genarlow had already served two years and the maximum for a misdemeanor was one year that Genarlow should go free.

ShortField: Very Fat Cat

To whoever lost the very fat cat and posted the sign at the corner of Grady and Redwine, kudos! My wife and I laughed well about the description.

Michael Boylan: Best Baseball Movie

Michael Boylan's picture

There are plenty of nominees for this topic, but give it some thought.

Which baseball movie truly stands the test of time for you? Do you prefer comedy or drama?

dyannp: Just who are the lawbreakers

Fayette County Residents - are you aware that there is a 500 homesite community that is majority hispanic. Non-English speaking hispanics. As with apartment or home rentals, the management requires residents submit an application with a security deposit fee. The applicant is required to supply his/her Social Security No., have a credit check and submit a security deposit based on credit rating. Now if the majority of the current residents of this community speak Zero (0) English - how do they possess a SS No. and have credit? Perhaps, these requirements are overlooked or obtained illegally - and prospective residents just pay an outrageous deposit fee - because they don't know any better. And who are they (non-english speaking residents) to complain about managements lack of concern with community decline (crime, unhealthy living conditions)- just as long as the lot rentals are being paid.

Cobb bandit pistol whips armored car driver

Associated Press

Published on: 06/12/07

Police in Cobb County are looking for a suspect who beat an armored car driver at a crowded movie theater in Kennesaw.

dollaradayandfound: Incentive?

I noticed where Mayor Franklin of Atlanta has replaced her second in command (operations officer).
As I understand it, the operations officer allowed the credit card charges to the city, including some in her own office, and also was responsible for trying to install a new computer system for the city, which is now 40% over budget.

1bighammer: LOWE'S in Fayetteville...Customer No Service!!!!!

Against my better judgement, my family and I went to Lowes in Fayetteville yesterday. I say that because I've never had a truly good experience at the store and have avoided going in there for nearly a year. I wouldn't have went this time, but someone gave me a $30 gift card and it seemed a waste to not use it.

Kevin Wandra: Your favorite piece of sports memorabilia

Kevin Wandra's picture

I think that just about every sports fan owns at least one piece of sports memorabilia they absolutely cherish. I met Joe Namath in Atlanta at the NFL Experience in 2000, and he autographed a Jets mini helmet for me. It's by far my favorite piece of sports memorabilia.

Michael Boylan: Fade to black - thoughts on the finale of The Sopranos (spoiler alert)

If you Tivo'ed this last night and haven't watched the finale yet - stop reading right now.

The show ended with an abrupt cut to black.

Richard Hobbs: Hillary Carter or Jimmy Clinton-I get those confused

Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign has tapped Rep. Alcee Hastings, a Florida Democrat, as a "national campaign co-chair," the campaign announced yesterday:

dollaradayandfound: Now that Russia and China are rich, also

I am concerned much more about Russia and China (their governments) than I am about Iraq or Iran. These latter two are similar to swatting gnats, whereas, the former two would be similar to the length of the Crusades.

JeffC: Book recommendations

JeffC's picture

It’s the summer, time to put down all that anti-Clinton and anti-Bush books. What could be more depressing?

Instead, get some action/adventure fiction and a case of cold ones!

dollaradayandfound: Posting for S. Bells & denise, by proxy

We went together to a republican political meeting recently at the Onyx.
We were to discuss what to do about the immigration problem, but decided there wasn't any problem. Also, on the agenda, was what to do about free-loaders and encroachment upon other people's writings and opinions. We also decided that neither of these things meant very much and ordered another drink with food stamps (good at the Onyx).

dollaradayandfound: Beer battered grouper, best school, etc.

Stale beer at that! Anyway McIntosh is by far the best school for academics and Starrs Mill recruits better for footbsll players. Some of those guys at Starrs Mill have dog-training facilities, Cadillac Escalades, and bling.

dollaradayandfound: Finally, a generalissimo

The sheriff in LA is a Five Star General (*****).
He sent Paris home over a judge's ruling.
I saw him and his stars this morning on CNN where he said, as a professional courtesy, he would keep Paris for her entire sentence this time, unless she hired another doctor to say she was too ill to stay in jail.

MWF: Frozen Palace Outcome?

Why has it been weeks since anything was seen or heard in the news about the shooting at Frozen Palace? Could it be the police were justified so no one is having public hissy fits now?

Michael Boylan: VIDEO A day at DixieLand

Basmati: Urban Legend: "Fayette County has a teacher shortage..."

Basmati's picture

I saw someone repeat the old adage "Fayette County has a teacher shortage" again today.

After a bit of sleuthing, I found the following vacancies metro-wide:

GloriaG: Poll-did your child's school require a stamped envelope for end of year report cards?

My child's middle school asked for a stamped envelope to have the end of year report card sent home. They also sold students the stamped envelopes at school the last week.

posterchild: Way to go, Fayette!

This was printed in the Clayton Metro section of the AJC, and I'm not sure why, considering it happened in Fayette...

Kevin Wandra: You play Braves GM

Kevin Wandra's picture

If the Atlanta Braves could acquire one current player from any team without giving up anything, who would be the best pick for them?

johenry: Twice burned with Logsdon

Read his lips ... another tax increase in Peachtree City.

Lowes wants in on TDK ... wonderful.

How much abuse can we take on TDK?
