China's drug watchdog has admitted food and drug safety supervision in the country is poor and in need of improvement. The comments came as China executed the former head of its food and drug administration for allowing unsafe drugs to enter the market in exchange for bribes.

just wondering why the new developments in PTC lighting output is not being regulated... yes this is a silly inquiry, but recently the lighing around Chilis and Longhorns has gotten much brighter... plus the Avenue... it's really noticible when you look accross the street at Carabbas and the rest of that shopping center... other questionable businesses are Hartigans, Mcintosh Village and the entire Kedron Village shopping center. Has PTC let this rule go? I love the sleepy hidden feel of the local businesses... is this our future...

Y'all are breaking my heart saying that you are outta here. Several of the oldtimers and originals have dropped out long ago, and it saddens me to see more leaving.

People with Medicare Part D coverage (the prescription drug plan) might be interested to know that, under at least one company's Part D plan, the shingles vaccine (Zostavax) is available at some local Kroger and Rite Aid pharmacies for the co-pay price provided in their plan (generally about $50 to $60), and it will be given at the drug store without further expense. To receive it requires bringing in a doctor's prescription for it. An appointment may be needed, to make sure the vaccine (which needs to be kept refrigerated) is on hand.

The Major League Baseball All-Star Game is being held tonight in San Francisco, but I won't be watching it. I just hope the three New York Yankees playing in the game -- Derek Jeter, A-Rod and Jorge Posada -- don't get injured.

Joshua David Isaac passed away this morning. He was a 2003 graduate of McIntosh High School.
