les mis & sound

I got the following info from a review in The Southside Arts Agenda:

REVIEW

"The Saturday evening performance of Les Miserables, School Edition was almost perfect! So let's get the negative out of the way up front!

When a theater company contracts for the use of the Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater they are required (by the City's contract with the vendor) to use their sound system operated by their sound technicians. One would expect that these "experts" would deliver flawless sound equal to that which they engineer for any of the professional concert series held there. Not so - at least not at the performance we saw! There were countless missed microphone cues, screeches, static and booms throughout the performance. According to reliable sources, Twilight paid $4500 for this less than "expert" sound engineering and they deserve to have their money refunded.

What gives this "professional" sound engineering company the right to provide less than the best to a local production than they do to a touring group or performer?

Their ineptitude marred what would have been an outstanding production and reflects poorly on their company, the Amphitheater Management, the Peachtree City Tourism Authority, and the City who negotiates "iron-clad" contracts with companies that can't deliver what they promise.

It doesn't matter who is doing the sound for professional entertainers at the Fred, they are going to be told in intimate detail by the entertainers crew how to do the job, and when cues are to be obeyed.
Did anyone with Les Mis do this? That was my question!
You could pay them 10,500 dollars and if they don't know the exact requirements, it won't happen.
