The Chinese don't mess around

Cyclist's picture

From VOA

China's drug watchdog has admitted food and drug safety supervision in the country is poor and in need of improvement. The comments came as China executed the former head of its food and drug administration for allowing unsafe drugs to enter the market in exchange for bribes.

Here's a job opening. Any takers?

I can think of a few Republicans soon to be unemployed (Bush, Cheney, Gonzalez, Rove, etc). Or some already available (Wolfowitz, Bolton, Scooter Libby, Rumsfeld). Any of these could learn something from the Chinese....

So, do you like my new picture? meow

We should start with that embarrassment to the Marine Corps Murtha. But calling for his execution might be considered extremist around here. We could put some underwear on his head…except that the leftist ACLU types would call that torture. How about making all ‘the war is lost’ losers get into a big pile naked on the House floor? Except the ACLU types would call that torture too, and the ‘war is lost’ losers would probably enjoy it.

I’ll have to think about it.

Maximus, perhaps you would like to compare your military record to Murtha's. I didn't think so. Both of you are deluding yourselves and way too quick to dismiss people as "traitors".

Here's an article in Newsweek about "The Return of Al Queda". Oh, I know--a "worthless liberal media source", right? Well the article is about our own national intelligence community's assessment of the current situation, and Al Queda is getting stronger, partly because of our continued presence in Iraq. Perhaps we should have our intelligence folks shot as traitors as well.

Link: The Return of Al Queda

Pretending that things are better than they really are is NOT patriotism, it's just self-delusion. We can't afford any more self-delusion in this country, thanks to Bush.

The embarrassment to the Marine Corps Murtha should be sharing a jail cell with Duke Cunningham. He just hasn’t been pinned down yet. He keeps squirming out of trouble like he did when the FBI named him an "unindicted co-conspirator" in Abscam. Now he’s a little smarter about it and of course has the benefit of the leftist media mostly turning a blind eye to his corruption.

Murtha recently slipped into the Intelligence authorization bill two earmarks costing taxpayers $5.5 million. The beneficiary was a contractor headquartered in Murtha's hometown of Johnstown, Pa., whose executives have been his generous political contributors.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Murtha's brother, Robert, runs a lobbying firm that represents 10 companies that received more than $20 million from a defense spending bill. A convenient way to launder his bribes.

From Hardball during the Haditha investigation:
CHRIS MATTHEWS: Let me ask you Mr. Murtha to give us some details about that. Draw us a picture of what happened at Haditha.
MURTHA: Well, I’ll tell you exactly what happened. One Marine was killed and the Marines just said we’re going to take care – we don’t know who the enemy is, the pressure was too much on them, so they went into houses and they actually killed civilians. And, and –
MATTHEWS:—was this My Lai? Was this a case of – when you say cold blood Congressman, a lot of people think you’re basically saying you got some civilians sitting in a room around a field and they’re executed.
MURTHA: That’s exactly it.

To Murtha the Marines were guilty until proven innocent.

The Marine Corps issued a statement in response to Murtha’s remarks:
“There is an ongoing investigation; therefore, any comment at this time would be inappropriate and could undermine the investigatory and possible legal process. As soon as the facts are known and decisions on future actions are made, we will make that information available to the public to the fullest extent allowable.”

He also tried to slip amendments into the defense spending bill that would limit the Presidents ability to send more troops for the latest “surge”. That’s all we need – this idiot doing everything he can to limit the support for the warriors who are already over there.

And of course there’s his foolish idea of redeploying most of the troops to Okinawa. That way the ones left in Iraq would be covered by the “Okinawa Rapid Deployment Force”. All they would have to do is hang on for a couple of days like the Rangers did in Somalia. That’s the Democrats’ idea of supporting the troops.

He’s an embarrassment to all Americans including the House democrats who rejected him as majority leader, even with Pelosi’s support.

I ask any former or current Marines – would Chesty Puller be proud of this loser?

I'll have to research your points before I reply. Just for the record, I was NOT questioning your military record. I WOULD be curious to know when you were in AWACS--we probably knew each other at some point.

I was never in AWACS. I just worked with them a lot as a pilot.

And I don't feel any need to "compare my military record" to Murtha's. His military record is irrelevant to the argument. I wasn't an Ace like Duke, but I still think he belongs in jail.

Not to admit a mistake and correct it is the military leadership way.
Murtha is no longer military. He has bigger responsibilities.
Once a Marine Officer, always a Marine Officer, is one of the attitudes that cause much of our problems. Not to pick on the Marines!

This is how you and I first 'met' and one reason I just plain don't like you. You challenged my military service record the very first time we 'chatted' and now you are challenging Maximus' record. What is your problem? You must have a major inferiority complex.

You have some nerve to insult Max and challenge him knowing nothing of his service to our country.

Not that military service is relevant to having an opinion - it is NOT. I served in combat, did you? Does it count more if you have combat experience? Well?

Just as I pointed out about my military service - it really doesn't matter GUMPY. I served for me and for the rest of my country as well. All here in America are entitled to their opinion - bas included - you are more personally insulting than he is - you attack the character of a veteran Marine and hide behind your anonymous moniker that proudly proclaim you are a 'GUMP'. How appropriate.

I'll tell you what, I'll put my military service up against yours any day. I guess if mine is 'better' then according to 'gumpian' logic, I will always be right.

Do you somehow think you flying around in an AWACS makes your opinion more important than anyone else's? Are you kidding me?

You come in here, as usual, and engage in character assassination and take cheap shots at a marine, Maximus, and you worked in an freaking AWACS? Spare me the drama.

What did you do overseas, hike in the mountains in your lederhosen while on TDY?

Get your boots dirty and go toe to toe, eye to eye with a man before you pretend to have any experience worthy of challenging a Marine, a Combat Controller or anyone else.

Again, anyone here is entitled to an opinion - military service or otherwise - even a wannabe 'teacher' like you.

You're pathetic.

You are challenging Gump saying, “you attack the character of a veteran Marine…” when Gump was responding to Maximus’s call for executing Murtha who had a 37-year career in the U.S. Marine Corps, received the Bronze Star with Combat "V", two Purple Hearts and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.

That’s rich!

Also, let me say this; I mostly enjoy your crazed diatribes but if you call me Bas again I am not going to respond. If I want to be insulted, I'll talk to my teenagers.

My point? If Maximus wants to say something about Murtha he can and his war record is irrelevant for at least two good reasons:

1) Maximus is an American.

2) Maximus is also a Marine.

Now, if you are so enamored with military service, then answer the question:

Since Murtha is not running for President, and military service lends so much credibility and importance for you to quote it as why Maximus cannot criticize Murtha, then you are voting Republican supporting John McCain, right?

Hey,it's your logic - are you consistent or not?

By the way, Maximus never called for the torture of Murtha - that's just liberal fantasy.

Re-read the post. I never said that Maximus could not Murtha. I was pointing out how hypocritical it was for you to jump on Gump for criticizing Maximus, (“You come in here, as usual, and engage in character assassination and take cheap shots at a marine, Maximus…) when Gump was responding to Maximus who was engaging in character assassination and taking cheap shots at a Marine (Murtha).

Then you act like I didn’t know Maximus is a Marine and careen off into some linkage to McCain and the election.

I submit that the idiotic response and twisted logic here is not attributable to me.

Mixer, that's quite a compliment, coming from you. Actually, anybody who is not unhinged could read my post and see that I'm NOT taking cheap shots at Murtha (the Marine), Maximus WAS. It's right there for anybody to read. As for me questioning Maximus's military career--I'm not. Very few of us have military careers as illustrious as Murtha's, and I include my own career in that. But then I don't even try to compare my unremarkable career with a war hero like Murtha.

If you read my previous post and your subsequent reply, you really come off as unhinged. Actually, you come across like a professional wrestler who is hollering overblown bluster at his opponent. Did you ever do any professional wrestling? Maybe you were a fan of Chris Benoit. Well, I'm not a fan, so take it somewhere else.

"I'm NOT taking cheap shots at Murtha (the Marine),..." Duh, as if I care- Murtha is a crook and a maggot. Guess what dummy? Maximus IS a Marine. You are taking the usual cheap shots at Maximus, THE MARINE, you dolt.

Slowly for you: Maximus is a Marine. Here is what you said to him:

"Maximus, perhaps you would like to compare your military record to Murtha's. I didn't think so."

You took the same cheap shots at me and I gladly told you where to put your self aggrandizing garbage.

So yes, you have a problem 'Gump'. You are an arrogant, hypocrite and you lie.

So, as for me, you will begin to move in the proper direction when you take responsibility and apologize to me for that "anonymous character assassination remark" (that was a lie) and learn to admit when you are wrong; otherwise, at least stop trying to confront people with their military service record.

Again - I'll be your huckleberry 'GUMP'. I'll gladly compare military service if you want.

You are the same shallow peacenick that bad mouths Terry Garlock and then votes for Clinton. You ignore McCain's support in Iraq and embrace Murtha 'the crook' while attacking a REAL marine, MAXIMUS.

Maximus (THE MARINE) if he brags about it is fair game - but leave the military service challenges out of it.

So, you are voting for John McCain the real genuine war hero then- right?

No?

What a typical liberal hypocrite.

Clinton the draft dodger eliminated any requirement for military service. Now you have Hussein Obama and Hillary Clinton to lead you and you want to challange a Marine, MAXIMUS, on his service record "GUMP"? Ha!

By the way, I did know Chris casually and when I met him he was always quiet, soft spoken and down to earth - nothing like the argumentative, insulting ((("...you come across like a professional wrestler who is hollering overblown bluster at his opponent. Did you ever do any professional wrestling? Maybe you were a fan of Chris Benoit. (sic)..."))), arrogant, moron you are.

First of all I agree with most of Mixer's positions. In fact it's scary because had I responded on many positions I would have written much the same thing. He is a Conservative and in my mind an independent thinker. I like the dude.

YOU are a Liberal. Need I say more??? Just kidding. For the most part you've been respectful to folks on my side of the aisle (BTW, I am not a Republican anymore). I disagree with you much, but have not found you to be any more confrontational than any other poster on the board. Okay...except maybe Tug.

Heck, we all need to expect to have someone get in our face once in a while on the Citizen Blog site. I get a little bent out of shape with some from time to time but we all need to get over it over it and move on if we want to continue on this board. I'm not sure why you guys got so cross ways but in this case it seems needless. So if you want to know what I think then here it is. Take your punches from each other and say "Thank you sir, may I have another". Move on go have a that cup of tea together. Just kidding on the tea thing.... Real men don't do tea houses. Please, oh please don't stoop that low. How about coffee or a beer.
