sniffles5: AJC rails against Smola/Smith state constitutional amendmentThe officers of the Smola/Smith/Wright Development company (doing business as "The Fayette County Board of Education") were undoubtedly aghast to see an editorial in today's AJC criticizing their most cherished dream. TyroneTerror: A Bail out Plan for Every AmericanI got this in an E-mail today. I didn't check the figures so don't all you jump on me about them OK. Its Just something to think about! Bonkers: Washington's Trillion $--we got it beat!I'm good at looking at developers and politician's numbers, which are always wrong by 2-3 hundred percent! Some facts: (Dar's Castle)(Now on the ballot!) dawn69: Voting recordsMr. Hobbs, I like the commentary that you contribute to this site. Many of you seem to be much more knowledgeable than I. Not that I don't have may own opinions and convictions, but often I feel that I don't always have the stuff of substance to back up my opinions. CCB: Haddix and Logsdon: Not much differenceA whole lot of people nag about Mayor Logsdon but what about their golden boy Don Haddix? You can talk all you want about Harold's China trip and his business relations. Look at Don Haddix supporting a $9.9 million private recreation spree. He wants us to build a privately run sports complex on city land for none other than Dar Thompson. dawn69: David's momI feel for your friend w/ the interest hike in credit cards. Most of my card accounts, I've had for years and had always stayed on top of them paying @ the very least the minumum and paying them on time. I had a hysterectomy a year ago followed by three more minor surgeries and am currently recovering from hernia surgery. After being out of work w/ the hyst. I got a month behind and BAM - 33% interest. Now I'm just treading water trying to stay afloat. I don't mean to poor mouth (I hate that), I'm just saying that I do understand the plight of those who try hard, spin their wheels, and still find themselves in the quick sand. dawn69: CyclistFred Garvin: ACORN & ObamaObama has strong ties to ACORN, a corrupt organization that has a proven record of voter fraud. Fred Garvin: Obama and his Brownshirtsdawn69: Wish we had cart pathsWish we had more cart paths in Fayetteville. Not that I have a golf cart, but if we had the paths I'd get a cart. dawn69: SunsetsI love sunsets too. My mother should have named me dusk (Dawn is my middle name and '69 the year I was born). Dawn is the promise of a new day and dusk is a time for reflection. justme2: no carts for smhswhy isn't smhs allowing the use of golf carts by their students? with gas prices the way they are now, don't you think it would be wise to let the little boogers drive the carts instead of using up precious fuel? Spear Road Guy: SPLOST vs Wall StreetI was telling some of my conservative frends there is NO difference between the School Board SPLOST and Wall Street. Tax increases are tax increases, so make no distinctions. Both will cost us. carbonunit52: Good Therapy:Hello, my name is carbonunit52, and I have no idea what is going on with the financial mess, and I firmly believe that no one else does either. MacTheKnife: Who is Obama?Obama scares me. I don't trust him. But before you Obama supporters begin to cut and paste the daily kos dribble, let's get one thing straight: I don't like Bush or his massive spending habits, I didn't vote for Bush. John McCain isn't George Bush, and Bush isn't running for a third term. So, talk to me about McCain's character if you want to discuss the two choices. dawn69: Flip this economyI have an idea for a new reality show. Maybe the Home and Garden channel will pick it up - it's called Flip this Economy. dawn69: Good point, slufUsually my boss, who lives not too far from me, will follow me home. He even waits until I'm inside my home to pull off. Maybe we should just carpool - he's really a great person but I shudder at the thought of carpooling with my boss. LOL. I guess, as a woman who was victimized 20 years ago (by 3 white guys - crime comes in all colors), I have spent most of my adult life being cautious, ie: always keeping a full tank of gas, never leaving a beverage unattended, never parking next to a van in a parking lot, etc. For now, I concede that I could put my 'top-up' philosophy aside until the shortage has passed and I believe it will be resolved soon. DarthDubious: A Call to ArmsAmerica, we have reached the point of no return! The government of the United States is about to embark on a course that will prove to be ruinous for our country. This morning, Congress is jubilantly announcing a tentative agreement on the Wall Street bailout plan. The plan, if approved this week by the full Congress and signed by the President, is a betrayal of the constitutional oath taken by our leaders. It is a violation of the public trust and an extreme abuse of the fiduciary responsibilities that each member of Congress and the President has to the American people. In short, any member of Congress who votes for the measure is guilty of treason and should be dealt with accordingly. terrie: Mobile Dog GroomingRelease Title: Bark Avenue Mobile Dog Grooming Salon FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Terrie Hamrick dawn69: Masked and SlufI agree, part of the hysteria has been created and is almost as stupid as running out to buy bread when some snow falls from the sky. dawn69: who's to blame? There is certaintly plenty of blame to go around regarding our current financial crisis. This blame can be passed out like ice cream cones to all members of our government (maybe one of those new Ben & Jerry flavors). Main street shares in this responsibility as well. Too many have overextended themselves with loans that common sense would have suggested they couldn't afford. Fred Garvin: Obama's tax policies will ruin our countryMacTheKnife: Who tried to avert this financial meltdown and who contributed to it?Dorothy L. Bruce: SARAH PALINSarah Palin is the first politician to come along in decades who is truly one of "We The People". The distance between Alaska and Washington,DC has never been more apparant than when you hear this lady speak. Cyclist: Hey wulfman,Bonkers: School computers;war's end;bail-out;PalinI noticed all the haullaboo on school computer purchases. Just lease the suckers with a maintenance plan, pay by the year!
