no carts for smhs

why isn't smhs allowing the use of golf carts by their students? with gas prices the way they are now, don't you think it would be wise to let the little boogers drive the carts instead of using up precious fuel? they can always take one of the MANY crossing guards from booth middle school to help carts cross redwine road....lets hear from you people!!

The Starrs Mill complex is NOT in PTC. Why not let the little boogers ride the BUS? But I agree with you, the students should be able to ride carts to school. There is a proper crossing on Redwine, and it should be staffed for this purpose.

I know that McIntosh has sold at least 328 golf cart permits for this school year. It has to help with keeping cars off the roads.

Slightly off topic here, but what a difference a year makes!

I was up at McIntosh High School yesterday and noticed something: last year, the student car parking lot was full to overflowing and the golf cart parking lot was maybe 70% full.

This year, though, the numbers are reversed! Student parking is 70% full, and the golf cart lot is full to overflowing and the unofficial "overflow lot" is full as well!

The decision to not allow golf carts on campus is driven 100% by the principal Mrs. Toney. According to her, one precious subdivision does not have access to cross Highway 74 and it would not be fair to everyone else. Ok, let me get this straight. We could get 400+ cars off the road, but we are inconveniencing a poor few souls on the wrong side of 74. You are right, there are crossing guards that would ensure a safe crossing.

Aren't there some of the subject items around that would eliminate the 400 cars, the potential 400 golf carts crossing Redwine, and the need for a crossing guard? Probably not, too complicated.

For not allowing carts. What does she say to the kid who doesn't have access to a car? Should everyone be banned from driving a car because someone cannot? That's just crazy.

have been an "issue" since the South Complex (SMHS, etc) opened. YES !!! It would make sense for the students to be able to drive to school in a golf cart. The officials and administration will site safety as a reason. The carts can get as far as Rising Starr and then they are "mixed" with automobiles and this becomes a safety issue. I agree. This needs to be dealt with.
There were some SMHS students a few years ago that would drive their cart and park in the cart coral at RSMS. I don't see this as a problem. Well, the RSMS resource officer put an end to that.
It's time for a "change."
Are you listening SMHS????
