ACORN & Obama

Fred Garvin's picture

Obama has strong ties to ACORN, a corrupt organization that has a proven record of voter fraud.

ACORN, Obama, and the Mortgage Mess

"ACORN attracted Barack Obama in his youthful community organizing days. Madeline Talbott hired him to train her staff -- the very people who would later descend on Chicago's banks as CRA shakedown artists. The Democratic nominee later funneled money to the group through the Woods Fund, on whose board he sat, and through the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, ditto. Obama was not just sympathetic -- he was an ACORN fellow traveler."

Now watch this:

Instead Obama chose to do this.

Obama you still have a little time to be a man and face Hannity.

The dems don't want to see some of obama's best material from his tour of the "57 states".

They have to see this one.

You have to see this.

You have to accept responsibility for your mistakes before you can fix them and move on. We don't need change that will put us in a worse situation.

Big thanks to the dems for CRA.

The CRA Act made it illegal to deny loans based in zip codes (redlining). The vast, vast majority of CRA loans were never the subprime loans.

Janet L. Yellen, President and CEO, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco specifically addressed this issue:

“There has been a tendency to conflate the current problems in the subprime market with CRA-motivated lending, or with lending to low-income families in general. I believe it is very important to make a distinction between the two. Most of the loans made by depository institutions examined under the CRA have not been higher-priced (subprime) loans and studies have shown that the CRA has increased the volume of responsible lending to low and moderate-income households.”

President's Speech

The cause of the credit crisis stems from the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Services Modernization Act, of 1999 which legalized the mergers of banks, securities companies and insurance companies repealing part of the Glass-Steagall Act and allowed these firms to leverage assets up to 30 times their worth. By the time Merrill was sold they had almost $900 billion in leveraged assets backed by $32 billion. Lehman reached 65 times is leverage to asset ratio before it went under. These types of derivatives were illegal until 1995 and under Glass-Steagal could not be inter-traded among banks, stock trading companies and insurance companies like AIG.

The Economist has had several good articles including this one on the growth of leverage:

“Since 2000, according to BCA, the value of assets held in hedge funds, with their high fees and higher leverage, has quintupled. In addition, the industry has combined computing power and leverage to create a burst of innovation. The value of outstanding credit-default swaps, for instance, has climbed to a staggering $45 trillion. In 1980 financial-sector debt was only a tenth of the size of non-financial debt. Now it is half as big.”

What went wrong

And this one on the collapse of Fannie and Freddie:

“It also allowed Fannie and Freddie to operate with tiny amounts of capital. The two groups had core capital (as defined by their regulator) of $83.2 billion at the end of 2007 (see chart 2); this supported around $5.2 trillion of debt and guarantees, a gearing ratio of 65 to one. According to CreditSights, a research group, Fannie and Freddie were counterparties in $2.3 trillion-worth of derivative transactions, related to their hedging activities.”

End of illusions

It is laughable that a republican would say anything of taking responsibility for failures. Name one failure you repubs have owned up to. One.

How about you lead the way though. Take responsibility for your failed judgment in referring to those of Indian and Middle Eastern decent as "rag heads" in your post about customer serviced. Own your vile words, then come back and scold us.

Fred, Richard, jettstream, armybrat....

It is becoming increasingly apparent that for the majority of Americans, REAL ISSUES are most important to them right now and NOT the garbage being spewed by Fox News, Hannity, Limbaugh and Rove.

Here's the latest Quinnipac Poll... this election may turn out to be a landslide in favor of Obama.

"It is difficult to find a modern competitive presidential race that has swung so dramatically, so quickly and so sharply this late in the campaign. In the last 20 days, Sen. Barack Obama has gone from seven points down to eight points up in Florida, while widening his leads to eight points in Ohio and 15 points in Pennsylvania," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

Higher Corporate Taxes are the answer? Who do you think pays those?

I'm not so sure about either candidate myself. I think both have major flaws.

I do hope that if Obama gets President that he doesn't get too tired and does things like this.

I think at this point the Palin/McCain campaign would be willing to use anything they could against Obama, especially anything true. So, why the @#$% isn't this all over the news and why hasn't McCain been all over it since it was discovered?

The more interesting story for you, Garvin, is how we explain McCain's silence on the subject. Why doesn't McCain want to win this election? Oh, my god...he's in on it. The Marxist/Terrorist/Racist Muslim brotherhood has our nation's most famous tortured vet in their ranks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only you, Garvin, could have made this epiphany possible. Your relentless quest for the truth has exposed John McCain and his marxist/terrorist/racist/muslim band of thugs and their attempt to overthrow our sacred democracy.

Thank you...Now let's take our country back!

Not a single vote will be changed no matter what they claim about ACORN or Obama's ties to it. Even if all the lies were true ACORN is/was about 0.0003% of the problem. Insignificant small ball.

Next we'll see the Ayers/Wright ads. With people concerned about real issues, they won't matter either.

Getting shot at focuses the mind. With people's 401ks and the economy falling over a cliff they're going to be concerned about somebody's actions when Obama was 8 years old? I don't think so.

That's right Jeff,

Racist/Marxist mentors, terroist friends, and "community organizers" that deal in voter fraud aren't issues to Democrats.

Heck, all of the above mentioned represent their voter base!

After clicking on your blogs and seeing the list, I will say with conviction that YOU, my dear friend, have them. No question. Wow. Do you think that obsessions like this are why politicians have bullet proof limousines? I'm not saying you, but obsessions such as the one you clearly have. I know a person that speaks so respectfully of high-level politicians in the opposition party would have nothing but their best interests at heart. It's just, there are some pretty kooky people out there. You know?

These bogus charges aren't issues to the independents and undecideds either. People gullible enough to fall for that claptrap have already decided.

The rest of the available voters are going to decide on real issues.

How many undecided voters do you think are going to vote against Obama because he was on the board of directors of a non-profit organization boosting education and schools that was funded by arch-conservative Walter Annenberg?

Submitted by Davids mom on Wed, 10/01/2008 - 12:24pm.

As Garvin and his 'crew' expound on their 'talking points' - Obama's supporters increase! Way to go! Keep your eyes on the polls. . and to think, most of the newly registered voters haven't been included in the 'polls' yet!!!! Sticking to the facts and issues trump the 'nasty' politics based on innuendo.
