Christmas play starts tomorrow

Brown to speak at National Heights tonight
David Brown, a pastor with the French Protestant Church of Morocco, will speak at National Heights Baptist Church tonight, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. He and his wife, Julie, will share their experiences working with refugees from throughout Africa. Brown is a former minister of music at McDonough Road Baptist Church. A fellowship dinner will be served at 6 p.m. National Heights is at 103 Old Norton Rd. and Ga. The Christ’s Church at Whitewater Preschool and Play Day will host its first annual Fall Marketplace and Tailgate on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. -12 p.m. Local vendors may purchase a table for $20 to promote their personal business, sell homemade items or crafts, or to have a garage sale. Proceeds benefit the preschool. Vendors keep the profit of their sales.

St. Mary’s plans ‘instructional’ Mass
Father Daniel J. Fleming, pastor at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Newnan, will offer an “instructional Mass” for the community tonight, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. Fleming will provide verbal explanations of each part of the Mass as it is celebrated. St. Mary’s Church is near the intersection of Ga. Hwy. 154 and Lower Fayetteville road, south of Thomas Crossroads, behind the new Coweta Library.

My mom grew up on the farm in Upson County with farm chores galore: fields to work, animals to feed, eggs to gather. They worked hard, but when Sunday came, they ceased work. Sunday was a day of worship and rest. Of course, chickens were fed and cows were milked, but Sunday was God’s day.

Area Catholic churches will host their annual “Fun at the Falcon” casino night fund raiser this Saturday at the Dixie Wing Commemorative Air Force Hangar at Falcon Field in Peachtree City. The hangar will be transformed into “Las Vegas Central.”

Three local Catholic parishes will join forces for the event — St. Matthew in Tyrone, Holy Trinity in Peachtree City and St. Mary Magdalene in East Coweta.

‘Heart Cry’ anniversary events help needy children here and abroad

During the first week of November, Heart Cry, a local ministry dealing with adoption, foster care and orphans, will host two events that will coincide with its first anniversary — a pasta dinner and a 5K race.

Christ the King will dedicate new Parish Life Center Oct. 26

The new Parish Life Center at Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church will be dedicated Sunday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. The new 5,000 square foot structure will house the church’s fellowship hall, two nurseries, three classrooms, restrooms, and a fully equipped industrial kitchen. With tables, the fellowship hall can seat around 165 people.
