The Citizen: Ask Father Paul 123108Answers to your questions about life, religion and the Bible Pastors get some of the most interesting questions from people they meet and people in their congregations. St. Mary’s Prayer Shawl Ministry fills community needIn 1998, a group of five ladies at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, then at a temporary location with a Sharpsburg address, gathered to form what would become a vital ministry to the community — a shawl-knitting and crocheting ministry which would evolve into a ministry providing chemo caps, slippers, lap robes, prayer bears and shawls for those in need of such items. Dressed for dinnerAbigail Pearman of Newnan and Michael Wine of Sharpsburg, were voted “Best Dressed” at the annual Christmas dinner at Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg, which held its 2008 Christmas Dinner in its own facilities for the first time. Religion Briefs 122408Liberty Baptist to show “Fireproof” Dec. 31 Sally Oakes: Advent: A time to wait and listenFor most Americans, the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is marked by a marathon of Christmas preparations and celebrations. There is a tree to put up and decorate (including the traditional untangling of the tree lights), presents to buy, wrapping and mailing to get done. There are Christmas mission projects such as Operation Christmas Child, collections for a children’s home or Angel Tree. And that’s not to mention the marathon of Christmas parties, luncheons, get-togethers and gift exchanges. With our church activities plus my husband being in retail, I confess that I sometimes want to shout, “Wait! We might miss the joy that comes with expectant waiting if we keep charging ahead like this!” Ready for performanceAll Saints Anglican Church Music Director Shannon Bryan leads the church choir in practice for Lessons and Carols which will be Sunday, Dec. 21, at 10:30 a.m. Afterwards there will be a reception at the Rev.
