Five other beautifully decorated homes in Fayetteville will be on the tour. Churches ... tell us about your Christmas eventsThe Citizen will publish a front page story on Wednesday, Dec. 17, detailing all Christmas church activities occuring between Dec. 17 and Dec. 25. Churches are requested to send announcements of these events by noon, Monday, Dec. 15. Special choir performances, Christmas caroling, Christmas parties, and especially Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services, times, locations, and any special information (Holy Communion, candlelight services, etc.) need to be publicized in this issue. Email is preferred. McDonough Road will present ‘Christmas Praise’ Dec. 7The Celebration Choir and Orchestra of McDonough Road Baptist Church in Fayetteville will present “Christmas Praise!” this Sunday, Dec. 7 in both the 10:55 a.m. and 6 p.m. services. POP plans Advent dinners, servicesPrince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fayetteville will offer Soup and Bread Dinners and Advent services each Wednesday, Dec. 3, 10 and 17. New Hope Baptist Church will offer ‘The Promise’ December 10-14New Hope Baptist Church will present its 2008 Living Christmas Tree entitled “The Promise,” Wednesday through Sunday, Dec 10-14, at 7 p.m. nightly, with matinees at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Holy Trinity schedules special eventsThe choirs of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City have planned two special events for early December. On Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 5 p.m., the Young Voices Singers, a children’s choir, will present “Prepare the Way,” a children’s concert. PTC Presbyterian’s concert is Dec. 14First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City will host a Christmas concert, “The Wonder of Christmas,” Sunday, Dec.14 at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. Woolsey Baptist will present ‘Noel’“Noel! Night of Everlasting Love” will be performed by the Celebration Choir and Drama Team of Woolsey Baptist Church on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. The performance is an original drama by Cindy Weatherup. The musical was created and arranged by Derric Johnson and is orchestrated by J. Daniel Smith. Childcare will be provided. International choir will be at HeritageHeritage Christian Church will host a free performance by “Children of the World,” a choir composed of orphaned and disadvantaged children from different countries, on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. The concert is part of the “World Help” 2008-2009 tour and will feature several songs in both English and native dialects, as well as personal testimonies. Religion Briefs 120308Eleventh Hour to host youth concert Dr. David L. Chancey: Five kernels of corn and a year of blessingsFive kernels of corn. After a delicious lunch, the speaker at our senior adult luncheon placed five kernels of corn at each place and reminded us of the hardships of those pilgrims in 1621. That cold winter, facing starvation and a depleted food supply, their daily allotment was five kernels of corn. Fellowship of Christian Churches to meet Nov. 30The Fellowship of Christian Churches and Friends (FCCF) will hold its regular Fifth Sunday Celebration on Nov. 30, at 2:30 p.m. at Flat Rock African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. The theme is “Giving God Thanks and Praise in the Season.” Ready for Christmas bazaarKrista Franks (standing), wearing her original hand painted silk scarf, and Donna Martin, holding an original acrylic, are two of the 16 artists participating in the juried portion of the St. Andrew’s Fine Art & Crafts Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., in the parish hall at St. Andrew’s in the Pines Episcopal Church. Senoia UMC to host blood driveAn American Red Cross blood drive will be held in the Senoia area this Friday, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Optimist Club of Senoia and will be held a the Senoia United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall, 229 Bridge St. at the intersection of Seavy and Bridge Streets, two blocks east of Main Street.. She was solidly into her 80s and her health was still pretty good and she loved to come to the Northside Shepherd’s Center, a senior day center for lower-income older adults, where I was the associate director. PTC Presbyterian to present Service of Lessons and CarolsThe Sanctuary Choir of First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City will present A Festival of Lessons and Carols Sunday, Nov. 30, at 11:15 a.m. The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a format of Christian worship service celebrating the birth of Jesus and traditionally followed at Christmas. CTK’s Purity Seminar well attendedOn Saturday, Nov. 8, the Diocese of the Mid-South of the Charismatic Episcopal Church hosted a diocesan-wide purity seminar for teens and their parents entitled, “Sex, Love, and Relationships.” The seminar was held at Christ the King Church in Sharpsburg and was led by David and Sharon Holland of St. Andrew’s Church in Covington. In total, 50 people (teens and parents) participated. Hollingsworth House event will benefit Children’s VillageThe Hollingsworth House and leaders in the community will come together to host the Second Annual Hollingsworth House Event benefiting The Children’s Village at Christian City on Monday, Dec. 1, from 5-7:30 p.m. (drop in), featuring food and refreshments, live music and a silent auction of chairs painted and decorated by local artists.
