Area Catholic churches are readying for their annual “Fun at the Falcon” casino night fund raiser planned this year for Nov. 1 in the Dixie Wing Commemorative Air Force hangar at Falcon Field in Peachtree City. The hangar will be transformed into “Las Vegas Central.”

Fayetteville Church of Christ will host several events this weekend, Oct. 17-18. An old fashion singing will be held Friday night, Oct. 17, from 7 – 10 p.m.

Several churches in the area recently held special services for blessing the animals in conjunction with the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Father Paul Elliott of St. Andrew’s in the Pines Episcopal Church in Peachtree City blessed more than 15 dogs and one cat. Stanton Lanier, Pianist of Peace, will be in concert at Providence United Methodist Church in Fayetteville Saturday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m.

Fayette County’s Square Foot Ministry participated in a “blitz build” in Lanett, Ala. the weekend of Oct. 10-11.

SFM and The Fuller Center for Housing, an ecumenical Christian group founded by Millard Fuller of Habitat for Humanity, sponsored the project.

Father Daniel J. Fleming, pastor at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Newnan, will offer an “instructional Mass” on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. Fleming will provide verbal explanations of each part of the Mass as it is celebrated.

Lotz Bible study offered at Hopewell
A six-week Bible study, entitled “The Vision of His Glory”, will begin at Hopewell UMC on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. The study was created by Anne Graham Lotz and will be taught by Phyllis Gaddy. The study focuses on finding hope through the revelation of Jesus Christ, and is appropriate for all men, women, and teens. Study books are $10 each and may be purchased from Mrs. Gaddy. Peachtree City Aglow Community Lighthouse, an international, interdenominational women’s ministry, will feature Tom Kroessig as guest speaker at the Monday, Oct. 13 meeting, scheduled for 6:45 p.m. at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City.

St. Christopher’s Hellenic Orthodox Church Philoptochos Society will hold its annual Greek Appetizers and Baklava sale just in time for holiday entertaining. The society is offering Spanakopita (a filo pastry filled with spinach, feta and onions) and Tiropita (a filo pastry filled with cheeses and herbs) for $10 per dozen and Baklava (a filo and nut filled sweet pastry) for $18 per dozen.

Harvest Jamboree planned at Corinth Baptist
Three J Café and Harvest Jamboree at Corinth Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 11 will be a day of fun and entertainment with live music, craft booths, games, prizes and treats. Festivities will be from 3-8:30 p.m. with an outdoor, family movie presentation starting at 8:30 after the festivities.Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs. Heritage Christian Church in Fayetteville will host a marriage conference entitled, “Understanding The Love of Your Life,” Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3 and 4 at the church.

Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church will host its annual Bible Conference Oct. 4 and 5, with Dr. Bryan Chapell speaking on the theme “Holiness by Grace.”

Operation Mobilization, an international Christian mission organization with its U.S. office in Tyrone, will mark its 50th anniversary with a celebration this Friday. The public is invited to attend.

The Episcopal Church of the Nativity on Antioch Road will host a Fall Bazaar Saturday, Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. featuring hand made crafts, jewelry, baked goods, a huge book sale, coffee and warm cider, and eat-in or take-out lunch.
