Unity Christian’s yard sale is this Saturday
The Unity Christian Church will have a Community Yard Sale Saturday Sept. 6, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Items for sale include some designers clothes, suits and shoes (Ecko, Jones of New York) etc., new and used clothes for adults, young adults, teens, children and babies, bicycles, chairs, computers, linen, décor, rugs, lamps, wall pictures, furniture, appliances and much more. The group that gathered recently for our Wednesday night devotion and communion service got to talking about change. We considered whether we liked or did not like change and, as a group, we concluded that change does make us uncomfortable and that we’re more likely (including our teens) to want someone else to change than to change ourselves.

Moms to Moms brunch set for tomorrow
The third annual “Moms to Moms” brunch will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. at Dogwood Church in Tyrone. The event will feature brunch, entertainment by comic Linda Cramer, music, door prizes, and a look at programs for the upcoming year. Childcare will be provided upon request. Faith Bible Church now offering biblical counseling courses

Faith Bible Church, located on Ga. Highway 34 in Sharpsburg is now offering biblical counseling and biblical counseling courses to the community. There is no charge for the counseling. There is a $75 charge for each counseling course for those outside of Faith Bible Church. The “Faith Biblical Counseling Ministry” is directed by David Birch. Birch is a former pastor and college professor who is certified as a biblical counselor and instructor of counseling courses. Martha Peace, author of the book, “The Excellent Wife,” is also one of the certified counselors.

Almost since its inception, much of Christianity has had a callous disregard for the principles Jesus taught. While there have been many true adherents who seemed to have grasped the moral principles Jesus illustrated, too many supposed Christians have read into the faith too much of their own prejudices. History is full of acts of the “faithful” far removed from the teachings of the New Testament.
