Operation Mobilization, an international Christian mission organization with its U.S. office in Tyrone, will mark its 50th anniversary with a celebration this Friday. The public is invited to attend.

“Celebrating the Past, Shaping the Future” will be an evening of celebration, worship and looking ahead to future ministry opportunities.

In attendance will be OM’s founder George Verwer, OM leaders from around the world, former members of the mission, and local staff.

The event will be held at the north campus of New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville and will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by the main program at 7:15. New Hope is at 551 New Hope Road. An offering will be received.

OM’s US office relocated to Fayette County in 1987 and moved into its current site in Tyrone in 1990. Since coming to Fayette County, the OM USA staff has grown from approximately 30 people to 130, and with family members, the number is more than 250.

OM staff members are active in a number of different churches locally.
