Summer Grief Share group starts tomorrow in PTC
Peachtree City United Methodist Church will offer a summer Grief Share support group beginning Thursday, May 10, from 6:30-8 p.m. The group, which uses a video,workbook, and open discussion format, will meet at the church, 225 Robinson Road, room 308, every Thursday night for 14 weeks. The fee is $15 and includes the workbook. PTCUMC opens it doors to anyone in the community grieving the loss of a friend or loved one who needs to connect with others going through the same journey. Members of the clergy and elected officials in Fayette County will lead off the National Day of Prayer Thursday with several scheduled events. All events are co-sponsored by Edgefield Baptist Church (the Rev. Eddie Thomas, senior pastor), Flat Rock A.M.E. Church (the Rev. Ed Johnson, senior pastor) and Grace Evangelical Church (the Rev. Mike Stachura, associate pastor).

The Youth and Adult Choirs of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City will combine to present “Chalice of Grace, A Devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary,” a special musical program to honor the Virgin Mary Saturday, May 5, at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.

The Catholic Church of St. Gabriel in Fayetteville, in an effort to promote the fine arts in Fayette County, has planned a series of summer concerts beginning this month and continuing through July. The concerts are free but donations will be accepted at the door. Artists from Georgia as well as some from outside the state will be featured.

Several teams from the Peachtree City Church of Christ youth group participated in this year’s Lads to Leaders and Leaderetts competition held April 6-8 at the Atlanta Hyatt Hotel.

For the second year in a row, Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone will host the “River of Life” mission project, a faith-based community outreach program.

The dates of the event are July 11-15, and the church expects around 200 youth and adults to descend on Tyrone. But, right now, the project needs community attention.

Chaplain (Maj.) Jonathan Landon recently served as guest Celebrant at Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg. Landon, who has served 22 years with the U.S. Army, served in Iraq where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Currently, Landon is stationed in Tacoma, Wash. but will relocate to Ft. Clayton State’s gospel concert is tomorrow night
The Clayton State University Gospel Choir’s Second Annual Spring Concert will be held Thursday, May 3 in Spivey Hall on the University’s main campus. Noted author and minister William (Bill) Morford will be the guest speaker and presenter at the Eleventh Hour Call Church Sunday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m.

April’s free gospel singings at the old train depot in Grantville (Coweta County) will be this weekend, Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28, at 7 p.m.

The Rock Baptist Church in north Fayette County will host a benefit concert Friday, May, 11, at 7 p.m., with proceeds going to a local uninsured resident who lost her house in a fire.

The Lutheridge Outdoor Ministry experience is coming to Peachtree City. Young adult counselors, trained at Lutheridge-Lutherock Outdoor Ministries in Arden, N.C., will give elementary-aged children an outdoor experience in the day camp format at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City Monday, June 11 through Friday, June 15.

Hopewell plans blood drive tomorrow

Members of the Catholic Church of Saint Gabriel in Fayetteville are gearing up for their 16th annual yard sale extravaganza, an event which attracts shoppers from as far away as north Georgia. The sale this year is set for this Friday and Saturday, April 20 and 21, earlier than usual because there is now more room to stock more items.

Church in Fayettville, in conjunction with Educational Talent Search of Clark Atlanta University, will host a gospel concert Saturday, April 28, from 7-9 p.m. at the Villages Amphitheater in Fayetteville, featuring nationally known gospel singer, Helen Baylor, along with local talent. The purpose of the concert is to raise funds for a new ministry, “Seniors in Need,” which includes needs not only of senior citizens, but seniors in high school.
