Many years ago founding pastor Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, Calif. accepted my invitation to speak at our Christian school. Before chapel time, he and I had opportunity to exchange war stories. But in those few moments he shared with me a truck-load full of church wisdom in response to my question as to their phenomenal success.

Henault to be installed at Nativity this Sunday

The Rev. Rita Henault will officially be celebrated as the new priest at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity on Sunday, April 15, when The Rt. Rev. Neil Alexander, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, visits Fayetteville and performs the installation ceremony. Henault will be installed as rector of the church in a ceremony beginning at 5 p.m. She has been leading services at Nativity since Feb. 4, when she arrived from Edmond, Okla., with her husband, Mark.

Dancil concert planned

As the final performance in its 2006-2007 Concert Series, Fayette Presbyterian Church will present Reggie Dancil in a 3 p.m. concert Sunday, April 15, in the church sanctuary.

Members of the Catholic Church of Saint Gabriel in Fayetteville are gearing up for their 16th annual yard sale extravaganza, an event which attracts shoppers from as far away as north Georgia. The sale this year is set for Friday and Saturday, April 20 and 21, earlier than usual because there is now more room to stock more items.

Unity Christian’s Bible classes start tonight
Unity Christian Church will offer a teaching series this spring, entitled “Revealing God’s Ultimate Plan for the World!” The weekly Bible class will primarily focus on the books of Daniel and Revelation, and will begin Wednesday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m., continuing through June 27. Two days away will be Good Friday. Never have understood why we will ever remember the day as good. Friday of Holy Week was not TGIF but OHIF (Oh Hell, it’s Friday). It was not pretty at all that final Friday of our Lord’s earthly life. It started ugly and ended ugly.

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Isaac being the critical link. Remember he was the young man his father, Abraham, was about to sacrifice on the mount where present day Jerusalem stands. The angel of the Lord stayed the hand of Abraham and preserved the young man’s life. God did this horrific test to determine if Abraham truly would not let anything come between their relationship, not even his one and only son. Sounds like the passion of Christ, doesn’t it?

Community Good Friday service planned at PTC Christian Church

The annual community Good Friday service in the Peachtree City area will be held this year at the Peachtree City Christian Church on the corner of Ga. Hwy. 74 and Kedron Drive South. The service will begin at noon on Friday, April 6. Attendees are encouraged to come and go as their schedules permit.

Wellspring to sponsor event at Ga. Dome
