Fayetteville Christian plans musical March 31
The Music Ministry of Fayetteville Christian Church will present “Above All,” an Easter worship experience Saturday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 1, at 10:30 a.m. The performance will feature the adult choir, a youth ensemble, and the praise band. South Metro plans Easter pageant March 23, 24, 25
“The Christ, The Cross, The Crown,” an Easter pageant featuring live animals, music, special effects and drama will play at South Metro Ministries, formerly Peachtree City Church of God, 3935 Ga. Hwy. 34 East, Sharpsburg, Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 25 at 6 p.m. Admission is free. A nursery will be provided for children through age 5. Sharpsburg’s Clark among new LDS leaders

The Jonesboro Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) has new leadership.
At the semi-annual stake conference on Feb. 18, held at Jonesboro, George Ralph Parker of Fayetteville was named the new stake president by the conference’s presiding general authority, Elder John B. Dickson of the LDS Church’s First Quorum of the Seventy. Parker replaces David H. Ingram of Newnan, who had served as stake president since March 1999.

Too often our young people — especially teenagers — correlate matters of faith with some of the most boring subjects in all the land. I see them enter the front doors of the church and immediately dress their countenance with this “doesn’t matter in a hill of beans” look.

Summit to host N’Orleans style service, brunch

The Summit of South Fayette Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville will provide a New Orleans Brunch following the 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday, March 25. Ernie Maxwell’s Jazz Band will play special gospel music during the worship and will provide New Orleans’s style music during the brunch. New Orleans food will include low country boil, jambalaya, red beans and rice, and bread pudding.

Nat’l Heights to present special music

The National Heights Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir will begin Holy Week on Palm Sunday evening, April 1, with a special musical service including works by Handel, Stainer, Mozart and Eugene Butler.

Dogwood plans Easter Festival

Dogwood Church in Tyrone will have an Easter Family Festival Saturday morning, April 7 from 9 a.m. until noon for kids of all ages. Activities will include inflatable activity centers, a giant dual slide, an obstacle course, clowns, face painting, pony rides, and the amazing animals of the Wildlife Wonders petting zoo.

Lenten, Holy Week events announced at Providence

The public is invited to attend several Lenten events at Providence United Methodist Church.
On Friday, March 23, from 7-8 p.m. there will be a prayer service called, “Coram Deo-before the face of God.” Individuals and families are invited to walk through The Lord’s Prayer to experience the words from Matthew 6:8-13. Ministry staff and prayer team members will be available to pray with and for those attending. Childcare will be provided.

Sharpsburg’s Christ the King announces plans for Holy Week

Holy Week services and activities have been announced for Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church, Sharpsburg.

Palm Sunday, April 1, will be celebrated with the traditional procession of the palms. Father David Epps will preach in both the 8 and 10 a.m. services.

Beware! Always beware. That’s the counsel some soothsayer gave Julius Caesar in regard to the coming Ides of March. Well, Caesar didn’t watch all sides and didn’t “beware” enough. March 15 — which we observe tomorrow — Julius Caesar was assassinated by Roman Senators Brutus and Cassius (Remember, “Et tu, Brute?”). It was the year 44 BC. That March 15, 44 BC was our Nov. 22, 1963.

‘Rose of Calvary’ set for tonight

The Holy Trinity Music Ministry will present Music for Lent in the cantata, “The Rose of Calvary,” on Wednesday, March 14, at 8 p.m., following the evening Mass. The music, written by Joseph Martin, is a companion to his Winter Rose cantata.

New independent church starts meeting in Tyrone this Sunday

ReGen Fellowship Church, a new, independent non-denominational church, will hold its first regularly scheduled Sunday service this Sunday, March 18, at 9:42 a.m. Dress is casual. Until a permanent home is located, ReGen will meet at the Legacy Theatre on Ga. Highway 74 West in Tyrone.

Corinth offering free evening classes on second coming

Corinth Baptist Church is offering free classes studying the return of Christ.

This study examines the major passages of the second coming of Christ from the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Rapture, tribulation period, new millennium, and other events will be examined from a biblical perspective.

Abuse survivors group begins in PTC

First Baptist Church of Peachtree City will offer Survivors of Abuse, a support group for women who are, or have been, victims of abuse. Groups will meet Thursdays beginning March 15. A dinner will be held for those attending from 6-6:45 p.m. in the fellowship hall, followed by the meeting at 7 p.m.

Soup for needy souls

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church and St. Andrews in the Pines Episcopal celebrated Ash Wednesday with a “Soup Supper” and asked dinner guests to bring a food donation to help stock the Real Life Center food pantry.

OM launches Dance ministry
Operation Mobilization, an international Christian mission agency with its U.S. office in Tyrone, is launching a new ministry called DanceLink under the direction of Linda Wells. DanceLink will work in partnership with the Atlanta Christian Dance Company to facilitate dancers on the mission field to communicate the Gospel through the arts. This ministry will be launched at a worship and prayer morning on Thursday, March 15, at 8:30 a.m. at OM’s office and worship center. The public is welcome. OM is at 285 Lynnwood Avenue in Tyrone.
