For the second year in a row, Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone will host the “River of Life” mission project, a faith-based community outreach program.

The dates of the event are July 11-15, and the church expects around 200 youth and adults to descend on Tyrone. But, right now, the project needs community attention.

“The River of Life mission is all about community home improvement,” a spokesperson said. “The event enables youth and adults to come together to express the love of Jesus Christ. Last year they concentrated on four main areas, exterior painting, porch and wheelchair ramp building, roofing, and landscaping. Adults knowledgeable in the field of home renovation will oversee each project.”

At present, Hopewell is seeking a list of community sites that need improvement. Those who need help with their home, or who know someone who could use these services, are asked to contact the church immediately.

“Don’t pass up the opportunity to watch these gifted and dedicated youngsters work magic in the community,” the spokesperson said. “The service is free and there will be no obligation.”

Contact the church office, 770-306-7537, or send an e-mail to hopeumc1@bellsouth.net. Hopewell UMC is on Jenkins Road off Ga. Hwy. 74.
