Survey to address PTC growth, change

A citizen’s group is planning a survey that will help shape Peachtree City’s future for the next 20 years.

The survey will be distributed via mail to at least 500 pre-selected persons and will also be available online at some point, the Comprehensive Plan committee has decided.

PTC bids to remove city officials from tourism board

The Peachtree City Council wants to change the makeup of the city’s Tourism Association board.

The change would allow for two more citizens to be appointed to the board, replacing two positions currently filled by the city manager and a representative from the City Council. The proposal must first be approved by the tourism board so it can be included in the by-laws.

It’s going to cost a little more for students to eat lunch next year in Coweta County schools.

Last week, The Coweta County Board of Education approved raising school lunch prices for the 2006-07 school year.

City mulls options for new park

Last year, the city of Senoia purchased 47 acres off Pylant Street for use as the city’s biggest park. A year later, city officials are now trying to deal with what to do about the breached dam on the site and how the park should be developed.

Tour de Georgia returns to the area next week

People are expected to line the streets along the route of the second stage of the 2006 Ford Tour de Georgia next Wednesday, as 120 cyclists from over 22 countries will ride from the start in Fayetteville, through parts of Coweta and South Fulton County, on their way to the finish line in Rome. This is the second consecutive year for the event to pass through Fayette, Coweta and South Fulton Counties and race organizers expect the crowds to be even larger this year.

A site plan for an Applebee’s restaurant was approved Monday night by the Peachtree City Planning Commission. The restaurant will be located on the western side of MacDuff Parkway where it intersects with Hwy. 54.

South Peachtree City will soon have its very own Chick-fil-A restaurant.

Plans have been approved for a Chick-fil-A at the corner of Ga. Highway 74 and Holly Grove Road. The restaurant will be located across Holly Grove Road from the Eckerd drugstore.
