A developer wants Peachtree City to de-annex a 28-acre tract on the city’s eastern boundary so his entire subdivision will be located in the unincorporated county.

An adjacent 20-acre tract that is mostly undevelopable wetlands backs up to the Camp Creek Estates subdivision in Peachtree City, and it would remain in the city limits under the proposal from Rod Wright of Peach State Land Development.

The tract proposed for de-annexation will have three lots of approximately three acres each, which is comparable with the way its currently zoned in the city for estate residential use.

The city Planning Commission has recommended approval of the de-annexation, but the final say-so is up to the City Council, which will consider the request in the near future.

If approved, the three lots would become part of the Platinum Ridge subdivision in the unincorporated county. The subdivision’s entrance is off Spear Road.

The fire marshal and police chief have said it would be no problem for the property to be de-annexed and served by the county.
