A Peachtree City man was run over early Wednesday morning during a fight at his home in the Ardenlee subdivision, police said. Joseph McCoy, 23, was backing out of the driveway when he ran over Michael O’Hare, 25, police said. It appeared that O’Hare was run over and dragged down the driveway some distance, police said. Moments before, O’Hare and McCoy came to blows with one swinging a tire iron and the other swinging a baseball bat, witnesses told police. Both O’Hare and McCoy were hospitalized Thursday afternoon so their statements had not yet been taken by detectives, said Police Chief James Murray. O’Hare had multiple internal injuries and tire marks on his body, Murray said. McCoy had a broken jaw and other injuries, the chief added. McCoy drove away from the scene after seeing O’Hare crawl back into the driveway, police said. McCoy was found after police learned he was being treated in a nearby hospital for a head injury, saying he was struck by a baseball bat, police said. O’Hare was flown by medical helicopter to an Atlanta area hospital. The dispute between the two was apparently over a girlfriend, police said. No charges have been filed yet as the incident is still under investigation, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 770-631-2510.
