Teams play final games of the regular seasonThe regular season of high school soccer ends this week, and the state playoffs begin next week. While the pecking order in Region 2-AAAA for the girls is set (McIntosh, Whitewater, Starr’s Mill and Woodward Academy), games played last night will effect the spots for the boys in Region 2-AAAA. PTC Golfer David Schreyer enters the Ultimate gameJim Bulmer, of Lawrenceville, Ga., and David Schreyer, of Peachtree City, Ga. have signed up to play The Ultimate Game at The PGA West Stadium Course, a unique event in which two-person teams pay $50,000 to enter and play a match-play, best-ball tournament for a $2.4 million purse – $1 million to the winning team – made up entirely of their own entry fees. Whitewater sweeps Fayette CountyThe ninth-ranked Whitewater Wildcats and unranked Fayette County Tigers both faced a do-or-die situation Thursday — win and secure a spot in the state playoffs or lose and miss the postseason. Northgate hammers Starr's Mill 15-5There are losses, and then there are beatdowns. Starr’s Mill suffered the latter Tuesday, losing to Northgate 15-5 in five innings Wednesday in a Region 2-AAAA game in Fayetteville. Local teams net big winsMcIntosh’s boys and girls improved to 4-1 in region play with wins over Woodward Academy last Friday. The boys (11-1-1, 4-1 region), ranked second in Class AAAA, won 1-0 with a goal from David Fratto, while the girls, ranked third in Class AAAA, won 2-0 on goals from Kate Marnock.
