Fayette girls win region title, Fayette boys take second placeThe writers’ strike recently ended, but no matter who the writer, perhaps none could have written a better ending for the Fayette County Lady Tigers, who defeated the third-ranked Westlake Lady Lions 49-34 to win the Region 2-AAAA championship for the second straight season and their fourth region title in five years Saturday at Fayette County High School. Sandy Creek boys and girls and Landmark girls also make region title gamesSandy Creek’s Lady Patriots advanced to the 6-AAA final by defeating Central Carroll 43-31 . They will play Carrollton at 6 p.m. at Haralson County High School. The boys will also play in the 6-AAA championship game, facing Cartersville at 7:30 p.m. at Haralson County High School. The boys beat Carrollton 52-47 in the region semi-final.
