2008 All-Citizen baseball team• Player of the Year - Jake Tanis (SS) - McIntosh - Tanis had this award wrapped up halfway through the season. He swung a big bat and played solid defense for a Chiefs team that put up a fight in every game and made the state playoffs. Tanis had a .564 batting average, 44 RBI, nine home runs, 16 doubles, 15 stolen bases, a slugging percentage of 1.115, an on-base percentage of .641 and a fielding percentage of .975. War Eagles and Panthers move on in state playoffsLandmark Christian War Eagles (20-6) vs. Athens Christian Eagles (16-7), 3:30/6:30 p.m. Seniors Michael Leonard and Luke Griffith started the scoring for the War Eagles in their 13-3 game one victory over Wilkinson County last Friday, but it was junior Tanner Bryant’s two two-run home runs that loomed large in the win. The War Eagles also got a solid pitching performance from Jonathan Roberts in relief of Leonard. Landmark shut out the Warriors 13-0 in the second game.
