The Landmark Christian School War Eagles mounted two early comebacks and stormed to a 13-3 win over the Wilkinson County Warriors in the first game of their first round playoff match on Friday afternoon.

Whitewater soccer player Kyle Adams will be recognized as Student-Athlete of the Year for Class AAAA at The Georgia Soccer Coaches Association banquet next week. He will be joined by Coach Shane Pulliam, who will be named Coach of the Year in Class AAAA. Starr’s Mill coach Mike Hanie will be named Class AAAA Coach of the Month.

Four local teams enter state baseball playoffs this Friday

Starr’s Mill Panthers (17-9) vs. Northside, Warner Robins Eagles (19-5), 4:30 /7:30 p.m.

The Panthers have won four of their last five games, scoring 53 runs and allowing 21 in that span. Starr’s Mill scored in the double digits in 12 of their 17 wins this season and were only shutout twice. Overall, Starr’s Mill has outscored its opponents 230-122. The Panthers’ longest winning streak this season is five games.

A week after letting a two-goal lead slip away in the final 43 seconds in a loss to top-ranked Pope, ninth-ranked McIntosh avenged that heart-breaker with a convincing 12-5 victory Wednesday over visiting Pope to advance to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs.
