Landmark girls win state track title, Starr's Mill takes secondMon, 05/05/2008 - 9:34am

Landmark Christian’s girls won their seventh state title over the weekend, winning the Class A meet with 82 points. The 1,600 meter relay team of Kaity Bulger, Lauren Toomer, Christian McGuire, Kenzie Thrasher, Jo’el Christian and Alysa Rambo, took first place (4:10.540). Thrasher, Christian, Rambo, Bulher, Toomer and Christian McGuire were members on the 400 meter relay team that placed second (50.131). McGuire was a state champion in the 100 meter intermediate hurdles (15.296) and the 300 meter low hurdles (46.237). Bulger took second in the pole vault (9’), the 1,600 meter run (5:21.370) and the 3,200 meter run (11;24.370). Christian took third in the shot put (35’6”) and the 200 meter dash (26.262). Thrasher placed third in the 300 meter low hurdles (48.633) and seventh in the pole vault (7’6”). Erin Kelly placed fifth in the Discus (97’11”). Our Lady of Mercy placed fourth in Class A. The 1,600 meter relay team of Katie Bischoff, Yarahi Castillo, Megan Malasarte, Sarah Hohenberger, Jewelian Griffith and Kristin McClure placed fourth (4:17.448). The 400 meter relay team of Bishoff, Griffith, Malasarte, McClure, Tynese St. Cyr, and D’Arnca Blodworth placed third (50.331). Malasarte was a state champion in the 400 meter dash (57.370) and the 800 meter run (2:19.853). Hohenberger placed third in the 800 meter run (2:23.483). Twelve girls from the Starr’s Mill track team qualified to compete at the AAAA state meet in nine events. The Lady Panthers finished as runners-up behind Southwest DeKalb. Michelle Stegall was a two-time state champion for Starr’s Mill in the 200 meter dash (24.45) and the 400 meter dash (54.34). She was also a member of the 1,600 meter relay team that took second place (3:57.19). The other members of the relay team were Jasmine Robinson, Daisy Helm and Maria Iampietro. Crystal Christian took third in the long jump (18’3.25”) and Natilie Hauser placed sixth in the pole vault (9’). Katie Bragg placed seventh in the discus (106’6”) and Jackie Sample finished in 8th place in the 1,600 meter run (5:51.480). Others who competed for Starr’s Mill were Molly Musselwhite, Kayla Ott, Sarah Balkcom and Jenny Sample. Sandy Creek’s girls placed fourth in Class AAA. Moore placed second in the 100 meter dash (11.90) and sixth in the 200 meter dash (25.05). Jones placed third in the 400 meter dash (57.72). Courtney took eighth place in the 800 meter run (2:24.189). login to post comments |
