It’s official - no Fayette County girls team will win a state soccer title this year.

In addition to McIntosh being knocked out by Marist at home on Saturday, the Starr’s Mill Lady Panthers fell to Salem 5-2 and St. Pius defeated Whitewater 1-0.

This is the first time since 2003 that a girls team from Fayette County will not win a state soccer title. McIntosh’s girls won a Class AAAAA title in 2004 and a Class AAAA title in 2005, while Starr’s Mill won a Class AAAAA title in 2006 and Whitewater won a Class AAAA title last year.

The only Fayette County soccer team still alive in the state playoffs is the Whitewater boys. They will take on Lakeside-DeKalb in the AAAA semifinals on Tuesday night.
