I had the good fortune to serve with Dan on the Fayette County Commission from 1986 to 1990.
Dan was a dedicated and effective servant to the citizens which he represented. He was a man of character and convictions. My sympathy and prayers go to Dan and his family, we will surely miss him.

One would think that such a thing as a major heavy equipment manufacturer coming into Peachtree City, supposedly supplying thousands of jobs, including the supply factories akzo recently mentioned, would have been the talk of the town and county, and especially the newspapers, for months, wouldn't one?

This week's repeated theft of Gordon Shenkle's signs adds votes, makes Shenkle the favorite in Council Post 2 race. A random 75 call telephone survey of Tyrone citizens, calling each letter in the Alphabet, shows an overwhelming disgust in dirty tricks politics. The citizens were asked, if you knew that a candidate for office in Tyrone was stealing his opponents signs, would you vote for his opponent? 39 said yes, 11 said maybe, 7 said no, 18 said I'm not voting. No names of candidates was mentioned. Statistically speaking its a 28 vote turn-around in favor of Shenkle.

I was just reading an article on ajc.com on drug-resistant staph infections in metro-area schools, and the article mentioned that there had been a case in a Fayette County school.

During the comprehensive plan meeting it was becoming painfully obvious that nothing that was put forth as the plan could have any teeth at all as far as enforcement is concerned. Corner some land owner with cash and get a variance, much like the recent attack on Robinson road, and the whole plan is essentially thrown out. All a developer has to do is throw money at people willing to sell out and get council to vote in favor of a variance and all is changed forever.
