We did not elect the majority of them, although I agree, voter turn out is AWFUL.

Valerie has been employed with town hall since late 1980's, not elected.

Barry was hired by town council in mid-late 1990's, not elected.

Smola got his town council seat when one member resigned mid-term... appointment from inside.

Then he ran in early 2000's with no opposition - go figure: no opposition does not give the voters much to choose from.

Grace Caldwell & Gloria Furr seem to be the only decent ones on the town council and they ran based on the beginnings of these bad happenings.........they won by a landslide!! But Amos controls the Smola and Latoureau vote, and Grace and Gloria always vote against Smola - so there is a tie, then the corrupt, lost, unaccountable Mayor Lee, who went back on all her campaign promises, votes to break the tie - she votes with Smola.

It is rumored that when Barry Amos first began working as town manager, Mayor Lee had a big fight and Lee told Barry that she would never go behind closed doors with him again unless she had a witness; then a few weeks later they were thick as thieves and the rest is history!

But we are about to make new history - count on that.

Hey Span Dish Girl, you didn't tell the full story of Gail Onesi. When Gail went to Town Hall to get information about her subdivision problem, Valerie kept putting her off. Finally Gail had had enough and demanded to see the public record, whereupon, Valerie told her to get out or she was going to call the police and arrest Gail. Gail left empty handed. Not too long after that Tyrone police stopped Gail for driving without a current tag. She provided the officer with information showing she had applied for a new tag. The police arrested Gail and put her in the Tyrone Jail (I'm not kidding), then impounded her car. She had to pay bail money, hire a lawyer and go to court. The charges were dropped. This was false imprisonment. She should have sued the Town. But that's not all. After getting out of jail she had to go pay impounded fees to get her car back. While having someone drive here there, she got a smarta$$ call on her cellphone, asking her to contribute to the Policeman's funds. Those people at Town Hall have got to be fired. Then they need the s--t beat out of them. That happened on your watch Smola, and you knew about it.

I wanted to say something. I went to the public hearing on Berry Hill which was to be located behind me. I have 5 acres of land that backs up to the development. The developer showed a large drawing of the developement on an easel to everyone explaining in detail where the lots were going. The houses were suppose to be clustered and a lot of greenspace and walking trails on the side next to me. While we all wish it could stay pasture forever, I thought if he was going to do it, all the greenspace between me and the one acre lots wouldn't be so bad. A year later, I saw workmen putting stakes down in the so called green space. I went out to talk to them and found 2 more lots were added. I then talked to the town about what happened. All I got was that there was nothing I could do now. I finally talked to Mr Sears and told him I would sue the town if those 2 lots didn't go through proper channels. That no signs had been posted, nor had there been a hearing and that I had gone down to the Fayette county court house and found that Barry Amos, Mayor Lee and someone else had just signed off on the new plat. I was told by one coucilman, the town couldn't just tell somebody what they could do with their land. Another councilman, Mr Smola, who live in our neighborhood, gave me a date and time to walk the property with me hear how I felt. He no showed. I called him several times and he didn't return my calls till I complained to Lynn Redwood. He then told me he had walked my property. That was untrue as I'm home all day and have large barking dogs. In the mean time, Mr Sears and Lynn Redwood, got it before the planning committe for me. I talked to the Little girl that use to work for them as code inforcer or something like that. She was very nice and came out. I told her I wanted a copy of all plats and correspondance between the town and the developer since the original plat was oked. She told me to give them the notice in writing. I did more than that, I hand delivered the letter to them and stated that I needed it before the planning meeting in about a week. Days rocked by and nothing. I called the day before the meeting and asked what the problem was. Lindsay stated that Valerie said a letter was unacceptable and she wanted an email. I told her to put Valerie on the phone. It was not a nice conversation. I told her she had the letter and that I really didn't care if she liked emails or letters, she knew what I wanted and that I had a deadline. She was not nice. I went straight up there and she told me she was sorry she couldn't help me that she was leaving for the day to go to a funeral. I told her in a very loud voice that I wanted what was asked for a week ago. At this point she told me she would call the police and flounced out!

We all know Valerie. She treats everyone like that. That's why there is a petition to fire her. Why haven't you signed it? DELETED 400 people have signed and we're just looking for her to do something to someone else.

I went to the planning meeting without anything I had requested from the town. My son went and timed me as Ginger Blackstone said I only had 2 minutes. She cut me off before my two minutes and told me in so many words that if I didn't want to see other peoples houses, I should find myself 40 acres in the country somewhere. Thanks for the kind words Ginger!

As for the arrest, that is pretty much how it went. I've never been arrested in my life, but I have been very vocal about not liking the way the town is run. I was out one night and noticed that every time I turned so did the police car in back of me. It pulled me over, and in a few minutes asked for back up! I was never told what it was for and then I was finaly told to get out of the car and come to the back of it. There the 2 guys put handcuffs on me. I asked what this was about and he asked if I had any outstanding tickets. I told him I had gotten tickes back in January or Feb. My birthday is the last of Dec and I forgot to get my new car tag and had a 5 year dl that renewed on my birthday and had also expired. The police in Clayton county stopped me in Jan. or Feb and gave me tickets for both. You have to appear in court. I called and had it put off till the next court date because I was sick or something. Anyway it was postponed and I appeared in court and the judge reduced the fines as I don't get tickets and that was the end of that. I had long since gotten my car tag and drivers licence renewed. What they were stopping me for, I later found out was a blinker light not working and then the arrest was suppose to be for the tickets and driving with an expired licence from Dec to Jan or Fed. I told them repeadely there was an error and if they would stop by my house I could show them the paid tickets. I had already showed them my drivers licence and they took it away from me. They took me to the Fayette county jail and I must say the people working there could not have been nicer to me. If not for their being so sweet I think I would have lost it. I couldn't quit crying. A friend came with about 800.00 and got me before I was put in jail for the night. The next day we went to the police department to get my drivers licence back. They refused. We then went and got my car out of the pound and I went straight to the DMV. They stated that anyone looking in the computer could tell I had paid the tickets and they also gave me another drivers licence. I then had to hire a lawyer and go to court in Tyrone. We brought proof that the case had been post poned till the next date in Clayton, that I had appeared as I said I did, and paid the tickets as I said I did in the 1st place. The charges against me were dropped except for the blinker light and I had to pay a fine for that. I feel it was extreme overkill and that it is quite possible if I hadn't been so outspoken about how the town is run, it may not have happend. Those are my thoughts. I did also get the call on my cell phone minutes after leaving the police department wanting to know if I would donate to the policeman's fund. You can guess my response. This whole affair cost me a lot of money and I never got as much as an I'm sorry.

I am so proud of you and so glad that you shared this story with us on the blog. I have known about this story for a long time and I finally got to meet you recently and it was my pleasure. You are to be commended for doing this, I know it was hard and it is a long story but you told it very well and I think that others, as already seen from the responses, will finally understand how bad things are in Tyrone.

Something has got to change in Tyrone's management. We are at our wits end. I have been subjected adversed too, albeit not false arrest & false imprisonment, and it is outrageous, unbelievable. You should have sued the bell out of the town. This is why lawsuits are popping up everywhere against the town of Tyrone and Barry Amos and Mike Smola and Valerie Fowler-Caldwell, and Sheryl Lee.

Every time one of us tells our HORROR STORY regarding Tyrone, the more courage the other victims have. It is not paranoia on our part to be fearful of these folks in Tyrone's government, it is real fear. Tyrone was just a small-sleepy eyed town that growth descended on in the last 10 years and with that growth came the money grubbing, politician wanta be's, the town managers and all this other bad stuff!!

I know there are several others who have stories like yours. And just about everyone has been negatively affected by Barry, Valerie, the Smolas, Lee. It is almost unbelievable, but its TRUE. That is why the Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007 local election at Tyrone's First Baptist Church is so crucial to the community. Everyone who votes needs to get a friend, take a neighbor and go vote!! Exercise your right to choose your government.

There are dozens upon dozens of these stories. That is why there is no way that the people blogging here are all members or even aware of the "TNA." The Smola & Amos Camp and the Matthews & Nasiasceno team on this site are constantly ridiculing the TNA and nobody even knew who they were! I don't think the town's management can comprehend what they have done to the citizens of Tyrone, which is scary!

I didn't even know who the TNA was until 'oldbeachbear' put another great blog on here that described it and Smola's hatred of them. It is just all too much, and people have had their fill of it. This is an extraordinary example of the patience of humankind, and from another message, conflict avoidance. Got to stand up, got to stand up.........if you want to read the blog that explains the TNA, search oldbeachbear in the search box and read through the bear's blogs. They are great.

Gee, When it's a kid in PTC w/ a light out or a mexican w/ a ladder & no red flag; it's they git what they deserve & oughtta be following the law.

Her story only points out how OUT of CONTROL all of the PD's have become. It's all about the tickets and making a buck. Why is anyone taken to jail when they know where they live? She was a "flight risk"?

I sat thru. a bunch of Senoia City Court recently and one ole lady went across the center line. OK, that's one ticket. But is it necessary to write a second for "Reckless" driving? These aren't cheap tix's.

I hope I'm not offending Gail but for those who don't know she is retired Sr. Citizen. To have our Seniors treated this way by police is really a sad reflection on Tyrone law enforcement. This is such a small infraction and to throw her in jail is unjust and cruel. You should have given her the ticket for the light and let her prove to you she paid those tickets. A relative had a wreck in the county a few years back and didn't have her license. The police officer let her parents bring it to the scene and yes, she got a ticket but didn't get hauled off to jail for it, so I believe police had discretion on this. If she was able to get a license from license bureau the next day then Tyrone police made a mistake. Admit it, she's owed an apology. Thanks for coming forward Gail and sharing your experience. Hopefully, this will prevent something like this from happening in the future. I hope you get your apology.

Tyrone city hall looks like it needs a good I Team investigation.

Put the names and faces of the guilty on TV. Then throw them out of office.

You sound crazy with your rantings. I just made the statement earlier that you guys made that Amos dude sound like he was a king and precious stahr insulted my bandana and my head. What does my head have to do with what I said? I felt attacked. Do all people in Tyrone act like that?

are the ones that act like that and their actions have caused others to stand up and defend themselves. Sorry if you don't like it but it is what it is. Gail Onesi's story is true and it is just one of several. Quit lying about the town, general opinion is consistent with this blog entry.
