sageadvice: Irritants!

Every time that I buy some first class stamps in bulk at the post office, I can't get them used before they change the value of the ones I have. With another trip and extra effort to use them I can prevent waste.

wildcat: For Sniffles

I watched your video clip the other day (truthsleuth speaking) and fell out of my seat laughing! I'm pretty sure that is what my students hear when I start talking about the different ways to factor trinomials!!

sageadvice: Whatever happened to Rudolph?

The only real hope of Rush Limbaugh!
I realize that all Rudy wanted with the run was to promote his consulting business to the point where he will have as much money as Limbaugh, but I really expected him to help some republican get nominated.

dawn69: Responce to ITZME

I am glad to hear that you have dined with us and sorry to hear that both experiences were unsatisfactory. I admit that at times the atmosphere has been chaotic. As I stated in a previous blog, we simply weren't prepared for the volume that we've been dealing with - most new businesses have to gradually build up a customer base and therefore have time to work out problems. We simply have not had that time yet - we've only been open 5 weeks so we are still in our infancy. Considering this volume, there have been a few times that we have run out of potatoes and other menu items later in the evening. I happen to know that this is a problem that even Longbranch has had before. My hope is that you will try us again and not hold the first month of our opening against us.

sageadvice: Georgia's VP candidate for McCain

"Sonny."
That mention should pay him back for his total cooperation with the Bush Administration. Ain't gonna happen!

thebeaver: Obama's Truthiness About Farrakhan

sageadvice: The Virtual Fence!

I hate to keep talking about this stupid fence from California to the Gulf Of Mexico, but today's announcement took the prize cake.

Shelby Barker: Christian Conservatives

Shelby Barker's picture

Recently I was asked by a hippie friend of mine, why we Christians fight so hard to get our religious beliefs in politics. You see, I am a Christian Conservative, and find myself on the side of the Conservatives on virtually every issue, that is except gay marriage. When I look at things like abortion, family values, taxes, the poor etc... I look to God first, then I look at the constitution, and since the constitution lays out virtually every aspect of the Christian belief, I feel comfortable supporting the candidates that strongly support the constitution.

sageadvice: Bush's $4.00 gasoline!

When asked today what he thought about projections by industry people that gasoline would probably cost $4.00 per gallon by early summer, he said he had not heard that!

Kevin Wandra: The Falcons at the NFL combine

Kevin Wandra's picture

The NFL scouting combine recently concluded, and the hometown Atlanta Falcons got to learn a lot about prospects they might consider drafting in April.

Richard Hobbs: District Voting and Barack Obama

Richard Hobbs's picture

What is happening today in Fayette was happening in Chicago 30 years ago. In fact, its happening all across America.

One of the few "achievements" for which we are supposed to give Obama the keys to the White House, is his work as a "community organizer". No, this isn't a person that comes into your home to straighten up your closets or garage. Nor to pick up trash along the highways in and around your community. No, a community organizer was someone who beat the drums of discontent, where before there was none.

sageadvice: Prince Harry

Is being withdrawn from Afghanistan today because it was publicly announced that he was there!

I am hereby announcing that my Uncle Joe is in Afghanistan, and therefore I want him withdrawn immediately, since they now know he is there!

dawn69: Dear ITZME

dawn69's picture

You are correct. Longbranch has been around for a long time and until two years ago offered a very limited one page laminated menu. The Longbranch menu that now exists was created by Tim McGinnis (manager/operator of Latitude 33) and his very dear friend Jackie.

sageadvice: McCain's Fathers never got to Camp David

Both his Father and Grandfather were senior Admiral's, but never saw Camp David. John might have made Admiral if he hadn't visited the Hanoi Hilton so long.

Richard Hobbs: JeffC----Where is Diaspora?

Richard Hobbs's picture

(This response is coming from an earlier blog's comments, but since Cal is writing so much of his drivel under SageAdvice's name, it was lost on the second page.)

sageadvice: "CHANGE"

That word is kinda like, "improve," or "strive," or "hard-worker," they have no meaning without specifics. Such words are used on tax paid employees evaluations.

oldbeachbear: community septic systems

Someone told me that the county is going to get into maintaining community septic systems. For those of you who don't know what they are, they are just what the name implies. A community out house. Instead of one septic tank for one house, 30/40 have one big septic tank. Sound icky doesn't it? There is a neighbor hood in our area that has one. On a good, or should I say bad, we have smelled it 2 miles away. It has never worked properly.

Where and how are you?? Let us know, we miss you! Smiling

sageadvice: Fayette County "district voting"

Commissioners of Fayette are currently elected at large, that is, each is elected by the whole county.

If they were to be elected by a "district," it would then be my understanding that each district's voters would elect someone for their district only. I don't know if he has to live in the district or for how long.

Shaquita: Tyrone’s Money Tree part 2

Last month I expressed concern about the “new group” and their discovery of a money tree (taxpayers). Now if I remember correctly, when Grace Caldwell was a county commissioner she was always wanting the amount of attorney fees paid to Bill McNally made public.

Jones: Why is district voting a "risk" like Matt Ramsey said?

If Matt Ramsey thinks district voting will cause Fayette County to fall apart then why doesn't Matt complain about his being elected within the same Fayette County by district voting?

Shadow08A: Fayette County Sheriff's Race My Thoughts

Fayette County Sheriff's Race
Submitted by Shadow08 on Mon, 02/18/2008 - 5:36pm.

Ok you heard it here first; the upcoming Fayette County Sherriff’s election will be something to watch. The candidates will work hard but bottom line Wayne Hannah will become the next sheriff of Fayette County. FYI, I am not connected to anyone’s campaign, however, I support Wayne Hannah as he is the clear choice in this election.

sageadvice: What ever happened to Randolph Scott?

I mean Newt Gingrich?
I surely thought he said he would run for President---or was it Vice President? He would make a good vice.

sageadvice: Free Speech: Wednesday Citizen

Has not been printed twice recently.
Also home deliveries have been on Thursday instead of Wednesday, occasionally.

I know good help is hard to find, but such repeated problems eventually serve their purpose!

sageadvice: Surcharges

Lawn maintenance companies, trucking companies (not sure about the individual truckers), UPS, and I would suppose other delivery companies, and any number of other service companies, are now adding a surcharge onto your bill for the increased price of gasoline. Airlines I think are also included.

Buckwheat Rules: Why Obama will beat McCain

Buckwheat Rules's picture

Without question, this election is the Democrats to lose. That being said, I believe the Democratic candidate is likely to give John McCain a beat-down of epic proporations, no matter who it is. After all, this is the Democrats election to lose considering how much of a failure this current GOP administration has been in the past 8 years.
